Thunderball is a very well written, well acted, race against the clock spy movie with beautiful locales, cool villains, and underwater scenes that, at the time, were groundbreaking.
Goldfinger is honestly just dull. Most of the movie is just Bond sitting around in Kentucky raping lesbians and waiting for something to happen, and Goldfinger's plan makes no sense whatsoever if you think about it for more than 10 seconds. There's a reason why the laser table scene is practically the only thing anyone actually remembers at this point.

I love the opening scene. Great car-chase sequence. ...almost as good as Bullitt (almost). But people don't realize the marble quarry part of that sequence, I think. Also, at the end, "I believe we had a mutual friend." BLAM! BLAM! Then shoulder-roll over and shoot everybody's ankles and legs out under the cars. While Fleming didn't write that, it's what he would've wanted. I Just re-watched this one with subtitles on and it actually holds up pretty well, in my opinion.
