Prince had a long and fulfilling life, he went out a legend and is imortilized so in a way he doesn't really seem dead.
On the other hand Oswald's wife was the mother of young children and died with a spouse that is already suffering from depression who now lost the woman he loved and now who is all alone to raise their children. To make matters worse he has to be the strong one for them to get them trough this incident and every other one in the future, but I don't think he sees himself that way, and I don't think he believes he can be the strong one to see his family through this.
