Why is DC so obsessed to build a cinematic universe? Why not just a few good standalone movies?

>Why is Marvel so obsessed to build a cinematic universe? Why not just a few good standalone movies?

FTFY

Dumbest question so far.
>>
>>68616281
But in reality, DC isn't going up against Marvel here, they're going up against Disney.
>>
>>68616542
Marvel is Disney. Your point is moot.
>>
>>68616166
because the MCU has made $12 billion so far
>>
>>68616542

Idiot.
>>
>>68616166
It's not DC's call. They have no autonomy, they don't even have a studio.

It's sad, really. They could blow Marvel out of the water if they had the freedom to make live action movies like their old animated series.
>>
>>68616166
Because all the neckbeards loved continuity in the comics. But non-superhuman hero stories are better off in a universe without superhumans. Batman and Arrow shouldn't be in the same universe as Superman and Flash. Punisher and Ironman shouldn't be in the same universe as Captain America and Hulk.
>>
>>68616962
Iron man is more powerful than Captain America though.
>>
>>68616962
>Batman and Arrow shouldn't be in the same universe as Superman and Flash.

Yeah and nuclear weapons shouldn't be in the same universe as handguns that's how stupid your argument is
>>
>>68617110
Anyone can be taught how to build and fire a nuclear weapon. Only superman can move faster than a bullet, shoot lasers out of his eyes, lift a mountain, fly into space, see through walls and hear a pin drop in China while in his Bugle office. And his only weakness is a material more rare than Uranium-235. Superpowers make everything really uninteresting. Even the ancient Greek myths tempered their gods and monsters with considerable flaws. Zeus couldn't stop sticking his dick into everything and Heracles was strong but mortal.
>>
>>68617059
lol no
>>
>>68616166
desu man, they already have that, the batman films are all centered in thier own universe, same as the superman ones. Watchmen, a while i hate it V for Vendetta is consderd pretty good as well.

Then there are all the animated films which range in quaility desu.

You mean like how Tony stark was an alcoholic or pushing the Superhuman Registration Act?

You guys don't actually read comics, you skim wikis to look at their powers and don't ever take the time to look at the stories they've had, you just assume they're flawless and overpowered, same reason dumb cunts shit on Superman.

tldr; You don't know shit about what you're talking about.

But Tony doesn't have superpowers. And the SRA being a bad thing in principle is debatable.

becaus thei're literalie dumb asf
>>
>>68618978
Pretty much anything is an okay idea until real people get involved.
>>
>>68616281
Because you can shit out two a year and get more people to see them by pushing that they're connected.

And like this guy said >>68616688 DC actually have no real say in the matter, it's all down to Warner Bros.
>>
>>68618978
>But Tony doesn't have superpowers.

He did in the comics at some points.
>>
>>68618727
Have you ever read a Superman comic? Not every issue involves him just walking up to a villain and punching him, then putting him in jail.
>>
>>68618875
>guy talking about superman, a nearly invincible ayy lmao

>you shift to Tony stark, a flawed human from a different company
>>
Cmon man. They put their movieverse in the hands of Zack Snyder. They have no idea what the fuck theyre doing and are just apeing Marvel to the best of their abilities.
>>
>>68618808
Captain America
>Stronger than normal people
>Faster than normal people
>has a small sheild
Iron man
>Entire body is sheilded
>has various sensors
>hand beams
>Chest beam
>Missiles
>can fly
>far stronger than normal people
>>
>>68619025
Ownership of bombs, missiles, sniper/assault rifles and machine guns are heavily restricted in most countries, and for good reason. If people were born with powers often times more powerful than those weapons, doesn't it stand to reason that they would have to fall under certain restrictions? Either have some sort of procedure to disable those powers, or get a "license".
>>
>>68616166
I've been asking this ever since post-MoS WB announced they were going the Marvel route. Snyder will never make a MoS2 and it's killing me.
>>
In all seriousness why haven't coke and pepsi gotten involved in the marvel vs dc universe. Coke would be marvel obviously DC pepsi.
>>
>>68616166
looks like *cough*binary minded*cough* americans like to think in black and white.
pepsi vs coca cola
ibm pc ws apple mac
samsung vs apple
marvel vs dc

They already blew their standalone load in the past decade. The Dark Knight trilogy was a success but Green Lantern didn't work out so good.

Also, if I recall correctly, Man of Steel was supposed to start some degree of a standalone franchise, and they only u-turned on that when it underperformed.
>>
>>68616166
Because they want the kind of money Marvel made off its audiences

>>68616281 see >>68619073

MCU movies have literally become like the comics. People are actually paying money to see continuity.

In the old day, all superhero comics were standalone, assuming that the superhero was the only one who existed as so in his/her world. The X-Men changed that by introducing a group of superheroes, and Iron Man changed that, with continuity.
