Don't know the situation in murica, but here it's cheaper to buy and operate one at home than to pay these places.

If you need fancy treatment a regular machine can't do you go to the dry cleaner.
>>

>>
>>68611843

>>
>>68612361
It's cheaper in the long term, but people need that money for rent and food
>>
I like the ambience - baseball on an old TV, mini boxes of soap and dryer sheets from a dispenser, toy/gumball machine, vending machine... summertime next to the pizza place or car wash
>>
>>68611843

Some people don't want to spend the money to have their own washing and drying machines in their homes. That's extra money spent on the water and electricity to run them. Plus they have to be maintained. Some people, mostly poor people, would rather roll into a laundromat once a month, pop a few quarters in a machine and then be on their way.

Also a lot of people rent and don't have machines in their apartments and the landlords don't provide machines elsewhere in the building.
>>
>>68612619
don't you guys worry about other people not messing with your laundry though?
>>
>>68612684

Its my understanding that most machines lock until the cycle is done. They also have a timer on them so you'll know exactly when they're done.

I inherited a really nice, expensive bed frame, new mattress and sets of bed covers that never had a chance to be used. Every winter I have to haul these fucking things around to be washed because I'd have to buy a new washing machine to clean them.

I go to a laundrette. Not because I can't buy a washing machine, I could easily, but because I can pay some arab guy to wash my clothes for me. Also I live in a relatively small flat in central London, and I find the noise of washing machines perturbing.

I think if you're renting accommodation you often don't want to buy big items like washing machines, especially since they have to be hooked up to the water and some landlords wont want you messing around with stuff like that. But once you've bought your own house then you start to fill it with possessions

The autism is strong this morning.

Laundromats are popular in high population density areas where people don't want to devote precious living space to appliances, and also in low income areas where they may not be able to afford a home washing machine.

Although, in recent years home washing appliances have become so inexpensive, I don't think laundromats will exist much longer outside of dense metropolitan areas like New York or Hong Kong.

I use to use my own washer and only used my dryer during cold/rainy periods. While on vacation I had to use a laundromat and was surprised at how cheap it was and how much better and faster the dryer was. When I got back I did some checking on my bills and switched to using a local laundromat. The money spend there vs the money saved on bills came out with me saving around $80 that year.

Not much but hey that 80 bucks is 80 bucks that I didn't have the previous year.

It all depends on your personal circumstances I guess.

I live in a very rural area where 95% of the people live in big houses. There's still several laundromats here. The apartment buildings have their own of course, but there's 3 laundromats around the local town and get used all the time.

People hang out at the laundromats all the time. Half will be washing clothes and the other half are loitering. One laundromat owner built a small playground for kids.

My apartment only has a couple regular sized washer and driers in the basement.
I often ignore my laundry until I literally have no clothes left. If I used the machines in the building it would take me all day. In a lot of big cities people don't have the space for a washing machine in their tiny toilets, or the living arrangement otherwise doesn't enable a personal washing machine. For example the landlord hasn't installed one and the apt is cramped as fuck anyway. I've known several people who were living in dingy little shitholes when doing studues or exchange or interning or otherwise being in a transitory phase of life where you just wanna live in the big city for a while and don't care about the apt being that fancy. Later in life, sure, they'll start caring, but then you can move to the suburbs where there's more space and rent isn't insane like in Manhattan

> still using the detergent jew

Most Americans have been suckered by the clothing and laundry industry to changing their clothes and washing them far more often then needed, resulting in clothes wearing out much sooner due to the caustic detergent and needing replacement.

I’m a machinist and go thru only two pairs of pants and sweatshirts per week (t-shirt, underwear and socks are changed every day) and will wear the same pair of jeans all week long but I’ve got friends who seem to be doing laundry every day, as they’ll put on a t-shirt in the morning and despite just hanging out around the house, will toss it in the laundry basket that afternoon if they’re going out, as somehow it’s “dirty”.

My buddy works in shipping & receiving at an electronics company, which is a clean and easy job so he’s not getting dirty or even breaking a sweat, yet he puts on a clean pair of pants and shirt everyday and of course has to do laundry all the time to insure he’s got clean clothes available, even though the clothes he’s tossing in the laundry basket are still clean and wearable…

4chan is made up primarily of white middle suburban kids but these are quite common especially if you live in an urban area

>100 euros here for a decent
what kind of shithole do you live in where a 100 euro washing machine is decent?
>>
>>68623288
What is abnormal sweat anyway. Everyone sweats nobody can smell like lavendar all day.

You can change the shirt sure if you've done a 5 mile run in or gym session in it but sitting all day at an air conditioned desk means you need to wash your shirt the next day? Nonsense.

I live in a council tower flat and have my own washing machine. Dishwasher too. I've never once seen or heard of anyone in the four adjacent towers taking bags of laundry anywhere else.

God bless the queen.

I've lived in four European countries as well as America, currently the UK and there's one right across the street from me. Do I have to go take a picture you clueless faggot?
>>
>>68623371
So you have to pay more for even worse machines? Okay then.
>>
>>68623474
It is kind of an anomaly. When people hear I live in a council tower flat and my neighbour's a drug dealer they all look at me like a poor African aids child, but it's quite lovely, and the view is great. I also once lived in a house share with coke heads but they had no money (after getting their coke) or friends so when they were up they had nothing to do with their extra energy but clean the house. I'd always have to make extra food because one guy would always pop his head in if I was cooking anything and beg for some, but it was a fair enough tradeoff.

I forgot where I was going with this.

The blue laser ray adds a blue tint to movies and makes them look cold. This is why I like HDDVD better. It used a red laser ray that gave the image warmth.

You guys don't use coins much do you? When I went to the US it was either bills (felt silly filling my wallet with these) or 1c coins (stupid fucking things shouldn't even exist)

I've indeed always wondered who uses laundromats: people who apparently have money for a car (to lug around their laundry), but not for a washing machine?

Also seems like a huge time sink: how much more could it cost to hand your laundry over to a service who'll switch machines for you and have it ready to pick up in the end?
>>
>>68621787
re-wearing pants, OK, but wearing the same shirt again is nasty. Will smell disgusting.

It's because most people rent the property, so there's no reason to buy a washing machine, because there are laundromats everywhere and once you move out you'll have to get rid of the washing machine.
>>
>>68630631
I usually just hold them in the toilet bowl and keep flushing until they are clean

My local Laundry Mat was the shit as a kid in the 90s. Had a few arcade games in it so I would just hang out there all day playing games.

People in cities are too poor to afford a washer and dryer
>>
>>68612869
I have about 40 grand saved, but I don't own a personal washer/dryer because I live upstairs and fuck carrying those machines up the stairs and have people below me complaining when that shit is vibrating all night

Under communism we had communal washing room similar to this in the basement, every apartment building had one.

Shit was free of course.

It's the same deal in Britain, but even the tiniest dingiest flats still have room for a washing machine, it's not like they are that large.

Some apartment complexes do have machines, but they are more costly than taking a trip to the local laundromat.

Its a personal choice. Some people have them some people would rather use that space for something else. Also if movies have taught me anything you meet lots of QTs at the Laundromat
>>
>>68635007
Plus when they leave to go do something else it makes it really easy to steal their panties and socks.
