Obviously they won't be as good as the latest generation version worn by Tony but still an army or platoon of people wearing the default iron man costume.

You might be missing the point of these fictional universes, the characters are not so much characters as they are living avatars of certain archetypes imagined at their most perfect or over the top. Everything revolves around them, basically every hero has his own world and his own city that wouldn't have any identity without them being present.

Iron Man is at core the power representation of Charisma, while Captain America would represent Virtue and so on.

You could say that those suits would be worthless because ultimately the source of their power is the Avatar of Charisma inside them. Just like Thor's hammer can only be wielded by someone of his Strength of Character or whatever.
