I actually really enjoy Street Fighter 94, shit as it may be. The film's humor (particularly concerning Bison) seems like some sort of apology for the rest of the script.
Tournament fighter games will probably never make good movies, since the point to most of those games is that there's no one protagonist. So when they try to focus on one character, but cram everybody else in to please the fans, the other characters don't feel whole.
A lot of other games wouldn't make good moves because without the appeal of interaction, the story at hand is rather generic or incoherent.

I rewatched Super Mario Bros recently and I feel like it has more to do with the games than you remember.
Really, it's like a cyberpunk adaptation of Super Mario World. The tone doesn't match the games at all, but the plot is really just Super Mario World with a few needed additions to make it translate to live action.

Street fighter 94 is just plain fun. It's bad, yes, but it's obvious they knew as well that it was campy and just went with it.

Just think about it, how the hell would you even make any sort of respectable live action movie adaption of super Mario? It's actually extremely strange when you think about it.
Those things considered I think they did a very respectable job with the adaption. It has tons of greate ideas, lots and lots of practical effects and memorable moments. I urge people who dismissed it to give it a second chance.

Anyone who says mortal kombat wasn't good, was not old enough to watch it when it came out. that shit was awesome for the time. the only fault really(besides being cheesy at times) was they should have just sucked it up and went R rated and added the gore.
