Here's some spoilers in the last book that you may find interesting.
There is a creature that looked like a bug that attempted to kill Roland by making him laugh to death.
Then the final villain, the chthonic Crimson King, throws those homing things from Harry Potter that explode at Roland. Roland, in good cover, cannot still get a good shot at the Crimson King, who is outside, near the top of the tower. But the guy he met 5 minutes earlier, who was never part of his ka-tet, who did not shed blood and tears with him, literally erased the Crimson King out of existence because that was something he was able to do -- draw and erase a picture of the King, because why the fuck not.
Roland then finally climbs the top of the tower, but before doing so intones the names of those who fell on the journey, and those whose objects he took with him to lay before it. At the top of the tower, he opens the final door, and is whisked back to the very start, at the desert in the first book, with no memory of his whole journey happening. This happened because ka is a wheel, and his journey will not end until all is made right, for good and all.
I cannot make this shit up. King took 20 years to write a book in which literally nothing happened.
