I like the scene with the Comedian and Manhattan better. Between JDM's performance, Alan Moore's writing, and Snyder's skills as a director, it's one of the best scenes I've ever seen. It also serves as a very understated dialogue between man and God, which is always good.

"You gunned her down."
"Yeah, and you watched me."

I like how watchmen was obviously written by a manically depressed man in the 1970s, I enjoy it for that reason alone, it makes me nostalgic somehow, even though I'm not old enough to remember the 60s or 70s

both ozy and rorshach are strawmen, simplistic portrayals of men that don't actually exist in the world

a person like rorshach would be more likely to protect the lie, because it's practical, and saves the lives that are left, assuming that nuclear war really was guaranteed, he would understand that

a person like ozy would be more likely to be a narcissistic hedonist, and would use his obviously superior resources to do incredible evil, for his own benefit
>>
>>68233072
Rorsc is like that guy who spends his entire life for something and when he finally gets it he realizes it sucks
this is why I think he wanted Manhattan to kill him, he lived his entire life for something, now he has it, and it sucks
>>

>>

>>

nah

great performance by matthew, but nolan's hackness knows no boundaries

a rushed sequence that shows how his children are adults now and that he missed the chance of being there with them as they grew up and you're supposed to feel "sad"

lol

the only reason you "felt" something is because of the acting, not the script

I think Nolan is a more than fine director, he always has fantastic pacing, he is incredibly oportunistic and creative. He just writes terrible scripts, and should just be an idea-man when it comes to story.

I think a huge part of why the scene brought hardcore feels out of almost everyone that saw it was the music, the acting, and the way it was shot. Most of all the acting, which was brilliant.

The last scene with the daughter was gut wrenching aswell, for the same reasons, but that whole sequence was well written too.
>>
>>68234590
>The last scene with the daughter was gut wrenching aswell
You mean when he wakes up, meets her, and then leaves 5 minutes later to go find ogre shits?
>>
>>68234695
>>68234590
Also what about his son?
Why didn't he ask about him?
>>
>>68228746

How can it be midday in Metropolis and dusk or dawn in the Indian Ocean?

The whole movie is now 1/10.
>>
>>68234737
/wife's son/
>>
>>68234035

That doesn't follow.

The smartest man in the world would kill all the other smart people, if they were the kind of asshole you're describing, one willing to commit genocide.

>mfw people think civilization makes homo sapiens smarter
>>
>>68234695
Alot of people find it weird that he leaves so quickly, and i can understand that, but i actually think it would be strange for him to stay there, when she has an entire family of her own now, and basically tells him that he needs to move on with his own life, which is in my eyes the only way to deal with that situation. I might be defending it a bit more than it deserves because it hit me so damn hard, but i can't really imagine any other sollution to that whole deal without it becoming extremely weird and unnatural.
>>
>>68234294
>that absolutely raw visceral energy
>those lovely details
>that soundtrack
>>
>>68235151
The entire point of him going into the black hole was to get back to his daughter.

Also, if the station is withing flying distance, why the fuck did no one ever bother to go into the wormhole to check on the people they sent on a suicide mission 60 years earlier?

Nolan isn't the worst director ever, but he should never be allowed near the creative process of the script. And the studio needs to hire the editor.
>>
>>68235505
Three things Nolan always does wrong:
-sound editing
-fight scenes
-scriptwriting
>>
>>68235600
His biggest problem is that he holds his scripts too dear. He should just let someone else rewrite it for him, or he should deliver a rough outline of the story to a good writer, and then provide input and corrections where needed.

Everything else about his work is basically top-tier.
>>
>>68228668
No, because the movie was so poorly done and poorly acted nobody gave a shit about any of the characters by the end.
