Stan Brakhage
>>
>>68221959
why
>>
>>68221990
We'll I guess I should say a more accessible Stan Brakhage cause while AnCo is pretty mainstream in the indie crowd, they have made stuff that is experimental stuff and I guess ground breaking in the indie genre.
>>
>>68222153
How is their work comparable to stan brakhage
>>
>>68221819 they also make really bad "music"
>>
>>68222192
jesus christ you scared me
>>
>>68221765
They made a film http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1560776/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

/mu/ BTFO
>>
>>68222181
Both have broke ground in their respective areas
>>
>>68222270
How has Stan Brakhage broken ground? And out of all the artists who have "broke ground" why did you choose Stan Brakhage?
>>
Michael Bay or someone else as shitty and overproduced.
>>
>>68222153
Eh that's a big stretch there. AnCo is one the top indie bands and one the more accessible experimental bands and Stan Brakhage was in no way accessible nor "big" plus Brakhage did way more for his medium than AnCo did
>>
>>68222299
The dude did so much for experimental film
>>
>>68222443
So how did he break ground?
>>
>>68221765

wes anderson

He played around with moving film itself as a physical medium, rather than just a method of recording images. Stuff like the dead bugs glued to film, hand-painted film frames, etc. I'm not saying I see a ton of deep intellectual meaning in work like that, but I'm not sure that was ever the intention. He was just experimenting and pushing the boundaries of the format. In any case, we're still talking about it today. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you can flat-out deny he made an impact

Terrence Malick, because they both fucking suck. One is watched by pesudo intellectuals and the other is listened to by limp dick hipsters who refuse to accept AnCo is beyond normie tier and sounds like FUN made an album where they raped eachother to noise pop.

>Animal Collective embody the entitled millennial generation, products of a coddled culture that gives undue praise to minimal effort and cherishes signifiers over content.

Replace Animal Collective with Harmony Korine and tell me it isnt true

Quirky hipster trash that half the board loves and half the board likes?
>>
>>68222686
Korine is Death Grips
>>
>>68223367
Early Korine yeah.. i think later korine is straddling the line

What director do you think is a better fit for that description though?

Wes Anderson is methodical as fuck. Clean shots, perfect costumes, exacting direction, etc. Animal Collective is sloppy as fuck and faux experimental. Other than "hipster" I hardly see how they compare.
>>
>>68221765
>was good at one point but is now releasing one half assed shit after another
>>
>>68223604
Nolan started out great then went dogshit

AnCo started out complete and utter dogshit, and has gotten marginally better
>>
>>68223684
And then got back to being dogshit by their last 2 albums.
>>
>>68223684
>spirit they've gone
>dogshit

m8... How?
