itt post unrealistic things in movies that annoy you

why is it in movies when people get in a fist fight or punched in the face there is barely any blood? last time i got punched in the face there was blood everywhere and it took like 10 minutes to stop bleeding
>>
>>68208926
The lack of blood doesn't bother me nearly as much as the lack of visible exhaustion. Unless a character is on the brink of death, you rarely ever see them get tired during a fight.

Ever had sex in a cold room? Sure, while you're pumping and she's writhing, there's plenty of stuff to take your mind off of it. Once the after glow has glown after, you'll both cover up.
>>

PG13 rating, you can get away with decapitated heads as long as you show no blood.

What was the deal with the matrix revolutions though? Characters had massive open wounds on their faces and yet there was no gushing blood.

Unless it was the Wachowskis preemptive compensation since they can't bleed either.

It's probably been mentioned already but I can't stand how easilly in movies people get knocked out or killed. They slit someone's throat and instantly they're dead. Shoot a guy in the chest: dead. Stab a guy just about anywhere: dead. Punch a guy: knocked out. Push him over: knocked out.

Drives me fucking nuts.
>>
>>68211075
That's why I liked how the punisher killed people in hand to hand combat in Daredevil season 2.

Maybe someone has a gif, but for example, instead of just ramming a knife into an oponnent once, he stabs them in rapid succession to make them bleed out quicker and do more damage.

It would be too inconvenient to shoot several takes with blood running down a face during a fight scene.

Gun fire gets me. I know they can't be realistically loud, but shotguns hardly make a thud, the racking sound is louder. People fire guns inside, in small spaces with no reaction to the sound

Generally how fake violence looks in supposedly grounded movies.

People punch each other like they're wearing boxing gloves and don't hurt themselves, guns aren't deafeningly loud in-doors, gunshot wounds and stab wounds work on video game logic (protagonist can take 10 and keep going fine but bad guys instantly fall over dead), ect.

Depends on what kind of fight.

Did you get physical with a friend? You guys are going to subconsciously pull your blows to some degree which turns out to be kinda movieish

Did you get in a drunken fight? You're just trying to make a point and not trying to actually send the guy to the hospital

Did you get into a fight with some faggot gangbanger downtown? You're probably going to actually run or try to kill the guy.

Also there is no historcal evidence of English Longbowmen Arching their shots in a volly. If you look at the Bayeux Tapestry or the Morgan Bible they are shooting in a strait line twords their targets.

They were most likely less than a 100-50 feet from the "front" line pick off thier targets.

Timeline is a pretty bad movie (but hilarious if you read the book first). Its the only "realistic" version of time travel I've seen in a movie, because it doesn't involve time travel at all.
Instead, they are warping to an alternate reality which is identical to ours except that it's still in the 1400s instead of the 2000s.

Check it out. DEFINITELY read the book first, because the book explains what is happening (in terms of sci-fi) historically in great depth, but from the perspective of. 20th century historian.

It was written by Michael Crichton after he went hiking through France visiting mediaeval ruins and he wanted to write a story, but a story that he could examine through a modern lense, so the observations and thoughts of the historians who go back is important.

Movie is just a fun period action epic with minor time travel concerns, but it doesn't fall prey to the pitfalls of the time travel genre.

It got pretty bad reviews though because it doesn't really explain how/why they are time travelling in the first place. Hence book first, then movie.

Blocking in a real fight is pretty unrealistic, the only way that kung fu movies are arguably more realistic than Hollywood films that skilled fighters dodge strikes, while Hollywood fighters almost never do, unless it's a weapon.

That person had a hand made of glass, but either way there's a reason why facial punches are aimed at the jaw, nose and eyes, not the hardest part of your head.
Palm strikes are gimmicky shit that virtually no martial arts use due to their lack of versitility and reach. Meanwhile we have murals and paintings of Greeks, romans and Egyptians punching each other in the face.

This is true even beyond fights. Characters will be active for way longer than they could reasonably be without a rest even if they were in excellent shape.
One thing I like about Cloverfield is that the characters, even in a tough situation, occasionally have to stop and rest, which lends the story believability and gives time for good character interaction.

>Palm strikes are gimmicky shit that virtually no martial arts use due to their lack of versitility and reach.

Look, I've got limited martial arts and fight experience personally, but a palm strike definitely hurts like shit, and punches thrown at the head are fine, but the head's also way easier to move around than the torso, which is why even a well aimed punch may not connect and break a hand. This doesn't usually happen with body blows, which can also knock someone out. The skull is a bone cage with a few weak points, but is otherwise designed to both deflect and absorb impacts, because it's carrying something that's incredibly easy to damage otherwise. The same isn't true of livers, kidneys, guts, etc.

This is one of the reasons fighters wear gloves, so they don't break their hands every fight. Gloves actually allow them to punch much harder than they normally would or should. It's actually one of the complaints that have been said about the "savagery" of boxing, specifically in heavy gloves.

Most mixed martial arts don't use them because you fight with gloves and that reduces the effectiveness of palms over fists. Saying they're "limited range gimmicks" is sort of ridiculous considering how extremely close range most fights get. It'd be like saying elbows or grappling are gimmicks in a fight. Grappling in particular is important.

Referring to the murals of the Greeks and Romans is a little silly as a referendum on the whole of martial arts.
>>
>>68219389
the problem is that hollywood thinks everyone with some kind of autism/asbergers is a rainman
and the person almost always have the extreme symptoms of it instead of the mild ones that are a lot more common, and in most cases they display the wrong symptoms
>>
>>68211075
Gunshot inflicted damage varies depending on the bullet/caliber and type of gun. Not to mention with a shot to the chest, a couple of inches to the left or right could be the difference between life and death.
>>
>>68219287
Again, reality begs to differ. Case in point, virtually all street fights end up as two dudes headhunting until one gets his jaw ripped.
Punching someone in the jaw bareknuckled will definitely bruise your knuckles, but the chances of breaking anything are low unless you're a pussy and again, if breaking your fingers or wrist was a common problem then punching would never have been invented.

I mean seriously, this shit is so fucking stupid and ignorant I'm having trouble believing that you believe it. Even if you've never seen someone get knocked out in real life, you have to have seen street fights on youtube.

true, but due to laws of fiction this still isn't far fetched enough to actually belong in this thread, i mean we're talking about shit like a henchmen taking one shot to the shoulder and dying but the protagonist taking 5 shots to each body part and still moving
>>
>>68219506
that's because street fighters go out expecting to get injured, they don't care if they injure their fists in the process
you really shouldn't use street fighters as a case in point

I've always liked it when I see characters in fights, usually in martial arts movies, getting into a "tired" stance that's actually part of their fighting style. Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan can pull it off pretty easy, but I've seen people do it in real life sparring as well. It's sort of hunched over, hands on knees. People get suckered in to make a move and get blocked/hit low.

I also liked the fight from They Live for this reason. The guys get tired as fuck.

>Virtually all street fights

I've seen plenty that aren't swingfests, or they start out that way and get to grappling/throwing pretty quickly. In fact I've seen more that end with grappling in some way than end with a TKO punch.

A punch to the head is just one of the most risky things you can do in a fight. Even a well formed fist landing a perfect blow can lead to damage to the hand. It's not about being a pussy, it's basic biology and physics shit.

american military did tests with the palm strike meme
the verdict is it's just as easy to hurt your wrist with it as it is to hurt your fingers with a punch, and more importantly wrist injuries heal like shit because of the mess of little bones in there, unlike a broken finger
>>
>>68212461
>a punch to the jaw will knock someone out easily
not really, it takes quite a lot to knock someone out
only people capable of knocking someone out in one punch are heavy weight boxers whose punches are like being hit by a train
people who gets hit by those kinds of punches usually suffer from severe trauma or concussion
a knocked out person will only stay unconscious for a couple of seconds before waking up again, given of course that he didn't suffer get some kind of trauma
and we can't be trained into faking staying down because of our survival instincts forcing us get up again after getting knocked down
