it's because the show has him succeeding so much. you could have the exact same show, and have the same actor behave in the same way but strike out almost all of the time, and women wouldn't perceive him in the same way. they'd literally see everything about him in a more negative light.
the confidence thing works, but in real life most women simply aren't going to be interested and so the success rate is automatically lower. in a show we only see the attempts that go somewhere so he looks like a pickup god.
The choices made for the cast of this show always puzzled me. There's no chance in biology that any of those people could be related, considering how the parents look (unless they want to imply that Monica was fucking all the neighbourhood and that all the kids are actually brothers form different fathers.)
