Star Wars was always an action movie and simplistic movie at heart but now Star Trek is the same as that and it's pretty inferior.
Start Trek with Spok punching Kahn and the trailer for the new one made by the Fast and Furious guy is pretty absurd.

I like both for different reasons. Aside from the commonality of both taking place mostly in space and having space-faring vehicles, they're extremely different shows/movies.
I guess you could say that Star Trek is more cerebral, and has more moral ambiguity. But, that's exactly why I enjoy Star Wars for what it is, a fun space adventure.

The first JJ Trek wasn't that bad, it was a solid 6.5/10...which is better than some of the Enterprise movies. The second one was a 2/10, watch on mute, called the cops movie...fucking terrible.

The score is great, the humour is excellent, the message within the movie is great (take care of the planet, yo) without being hamfisted or annoying.
It takes a very silly concept (that of the 23rd century needing whales to communicate with aliens) and actually delivers an excellent film. You don't even see the Enterprise until the final 30 seconds of the movie. It's just so well done. Easily my favourite as well, and I'm not the anon you're replying to.
