Trying to find out which Star Wars movie people like better: III or VII. Just three questions. I will share final results.

A little more info, and bumping materials:

I'd like to gain some insight as to which of these two movies the /tv/ likes better and what ages/movie preferences said choice might be associated with.

Hopefully we can see if childhood nostalgia plays a role in our decision, if liking one movie is associated with a different type of favorite movie, etc.
>>
OP here.

Would appreciate if you could bump the thread after replying. I'll try to stay with it, though.

Asking for a favorite movie is retarded, it should only be one question.

I mean there is three questions and it should only be about the movie.

Well I want to see if there are any interesting correlations between III/VII preference and overall movie preference and age.

How? Looking at the responses those selections aren't linked in any way.

What do I select for age if I am either 20, 25, 30, 35, or 40?

"Your opinion is shit."

Thanks for the cheap kek OP.
>>
>>68164052
Seems your correct, and, what's more, some people may have thought I meant what is your favorite star wars movie.

Oh well, no harm in a little extra info. It's just one more question.
>>
Will you shitpost once you gathered enough informations?
>>
>>68164388
Of course
>>
There was a thread about this earlier, the best I could explain it is:
I'm not a prequelfag. I and II are abysmal and III is very inconsistent with moments of awkward dialogue and out of place tone. But, not only do I still prefer III to VII, I like III in general. It boils down to preference. Do you prefer the technically sound but bland, or the hard to watch but with high points? The payoff of III for me makes sitting through the rest worth it, while I do not feel this way at all about TFA. I didn't hate it, but I got nothing out of it, and I always prefer imperfect but moving in some way
>>
>>68165120
And I'm sure that some of my like for RotS is nostalgia-spurred. But the more movies I watch, the more I find myself preferring those that hit those high points, those climaxes, even if the road there is a little rocky. And ep III is no doubt more than a little rocky, but it is still something I would take over TFA
>>
>>68165205
TFA is my least favorite of them all. I just find it useless.
>>

>>68165429
Even if it's useless it's still a better made film than anything Lucas did with the prequels.

People only hate it on because it's a New Hope resequel.
>>
>>68165505
That's true, and my point is that there is validity to preferring either one, and that I prefer III. I do place TFA above the rest of the prequels though
>>
>>68165120
>>68165205
I feel the same way except I actually do hate VII, for the reasons you listed and more. I think the people who hated it have given up talking about it so you're left with the /tv/ star wars threads filled with people who really liked it or just felt it mediocre. Oh and waifufags.
>>
>>68162895
The only real correlation is between Reddit scum and liking VII. If you chose VII kill yourself immediately or leave the board, whichever comes first.
>>
>>68165971
I don't blame you, I just try to be more moderate and reasonable because people like this >>68166059 make it seem like only memers prefer III

I actually liked Hayden in RotS. No doubt the lines were bad, but even in the video you posted, I'm fine with most of the lines. They fit my picture of the Anakin character, especially "what have I done?"

Both of them were a dark mark on the great original trilogy, but VII interfered more with the original characters as well as the end result of the trilogy so it's worse in my mind
>>
I read VII as IV and wondered how the hell you could ever choose Revenge of the Sith over A New Hope.

That being said, while The Force Awakens is garbage, it's not prequels-tier garbage. So it wins by sheer virtue of being marginally less shit.

>>
>>68162895
My prediction is that older/more seasoned fans will prefer III to VII. VII disrespects and shits on the OT while III adds to it and completes it.

I'm not any of you three, but he's not meme'ing you, and foreigners should fuck off.
>>
>>68165505
>>68162895

That's the thing that always gets me, it's always comparable to how bad the prequels were but never anything else. VII just felt like mediocre attempt at everything. Bland and to the bare minimum when it came to everything else.

The only thing it inspires to do is be a nostalgia trip for fans who want to keep star wars in a little box. Despite being that it still manages to be boring and phone it in. There were plenty of ships to choose from in the OT but now all we get are a star destroyer, xwings, and tie fighters. There are plenty of iconic aliens that have roots in the OT but now all we get is the most easily recognizable ones, who are practically memes now. Not even twileks who are usually fan favorites.

Almost every scene in it feels like I can see a group of marketers sitting at a table picking ANH apart to take out small chunks, just enough to have audiences go "oh I remember that!" and be nothing more. It's like VII is corporate marketing given form.
>>
>>68166893
III adds to the OT a complete pile of shit.
>>
>>68167026
Lucas understood his mythos better than JJ ever could/will.
>>
>>68166999
Well put. Exactly how I felt.

They could've even had a lot of the fucking nostalgia wank IF they'd also genuinely added some new shit.

The X-Wings and TIEs only was just a forced joke. Why not have the old workhorse X-Wings along with something new given to the 'Resistance' like a C-Wing or something?

They even had a lot of nice practical effects and some fairly creative aliens and locations going for them, but it was buried underneath the fucking OT pandering. A shame, really.

Safe as fuck, and a missed opportunity.
>>
>>68167054
Ahhhh, the Fransh! We need moah:

>'50s diners

>>
>>68167182
It's ok, you can just say it: you don't like Star Wars. Leave Star Wars to Star Wars fans and go watch capeshit. I'm not judging you, just leave MY franchise alone.
>>
>>68162895
III has the better memes.
>>
>>68166999
>>68167160
Shows that VII haters are really just manchildren upset about the lack of cool new toys.
>>
>>68166893
III was at least so bad it's funny. VII was just boring and long
>>
>>68167215
>I'm losing the argument, better ad hom!

I do like Star Wars, friendo.

You like the worst films though, made twenty years after the fact by a filmmaker who ran away with the IP from the people who kept him from ruining it in 1977. ;)
>>
>>68167279
Is that all you have to say? These seem like valid concerns to me. TFA did so little that I have to wonder if JJ Abrams can really consider himself an artist. The cantina scene was just despicable. No skilled filmmaker steals to that extent, especially when it's a scene that's so iconic. It was exactly Mos Eisley, just lacking all the character and the scary dudes.

>>
>>68162895
Episode 3 by far
>>
III is obviously better but I'm not using that thing and giving you all my personal information
>>
>>68167279

You just don't get it, part of it is novelty and part of it is that the movie is just flat out bland. It doesn't push the setting in a new direction and every choice put upon it's visual direction is only to appease one audience. The most common denominator who wants just a quick laugh and a bit of tugs to make them relive their childhood.

VII feels like a bad tabletop campaign where everyone's trying so hard to shove "iconic" star wars pieces in the game but not understanding what made them iconic or what made them work emotionally. By the time Han Solo died I didn't care because the movie was already so boring and it was obvious from the get go. When xwings fought tie fighters it was actually well shot with some great effects but I didn't care about what was going on. Because the pacing was too speedy and didn't have any emotional build up, it was just going through the motions.

It's bad fanfiction, it doesn't even try to be a fleshed out picture of the era of star wars its trying to represent, and lastly it doesn't have cool toys. No interesting tidbits to bite into or read about save kylo ren and his knights really.
>>
>>68167401
>merchandising being relevant at all to the quality of film
>I want muh toys!

Yeah, you're cancer.
>>
>>68167279
I don't give a fuck about toys, I just like neat spaceships. Cool ships are a big part of what makes Star Wars fun, and the variety of new ones were the only thing worthwhile to come out of the prequels. JJ hardly included anything new at all.
>>
>>68167471
