The DS9 hate is warranted on an episode specific level, but if you can get into it, the reward is very high considering they actually open up multiple storylines and tie them into each other intensely by Season 5.
Take for instance the ongoing Eddington, Changeling infiltration, Cardassian / Dominion behind the scenes in cahoots, the awesome two parter on the Jem'Hadar asteroid, and a few others.
Basically, it became an every week we're getting storylines fed to us that we just barely forgot about or in most cases have been on the edge of our seats to find out more from..
The black captain bothers me less than his acting in the first 3-4 seasons before he piped down that stupid over enunciation shit.
ds9 is easily the best trek but tng isnt far behind, stewart is fantastic and spiner did a great job too but ds9 just has too many good characters and just feels better written in general
it also helps that there is an overarching plot throughout almost the whole show instead of tng's problem of the week formula

i think tng was a great base. ds9 takes it even better. voyager disappointed, and enterprise killed it. what should happen in a proper/actual resurrection show within this universe?
i think it needs to be ship based. but it can't be enterprise, or voyager, or something lost. it needs to be a ship out there but not lost.
