He's in debt because he funded the show by taking out debt instead of selling equity after his initial outlays. Totally normal.
He could have done it other ways, but he didn't, and there is nothing wrong with debt in this situation.
He also indicated this debt is only short-term and the show is projected to make everything back by this summer, and then he will be selling it to other sources and expects to make money from it.
It's like when Kanye announced how much debt he had from investing in his own projects, both he and Louie have the earning power to pull themselves out of it rather easily.
