Cause on one hand they are the hateful children you say they are, wearing daddy's clothes and pretending to be Big Mr. Nazi Empire with a contemporary school shooter motif; but then on the other they're even BIGGER and MORE POWERFULER than the Empire with a super duper death star that's like 500 times the size of the old one.
I would buy the First Order so much more as a concept if they were like this grungier, poor, occult-flavored edgelord organization, like actual Neo-Nazis (you even have the Sith ideology standing in for the occult elements), but I don't buy them at all because they're too damn rich and powerful in TFA.
