By the very nature of his work, nothing Snyder does can be avant-garde. He is at the forefront of nothing. He rehashes the same film over and over and over again. The same dark visuals/tone, the same obsession with martyrdom, the same gritty teenage nihilism. Over and over.
Snyder produced nothing new or interesting in BvS. If it had just been a Batman movie it may have worked on some level but it wasn't and it didn't. This myth of BvS's maturity or vision needs to die.
