Ok guys, I'm new to Star Wars and I just watched the Force Awakens for the first time. Where did the humans come from? Is there a human home planet? They seem to just be everywhere.
Humans are the most numerous species in the galaxy, possibly constituting a majority of all intelligent species. They've been spacefaring for so many thousands of years that the location of their original homeworld is not known for certain, though it is theorized to be somewhere in the core systems, possibly Coruscant itself.

There was actually a novel in the works that explained it. It was going to involve time travel and be connected to the THX universe, but it was scrapped for obvious reasons. Humans basically just dominated early on. Races like the Duros were more widespread for a while, but that was many thousands of years before the movies.
