Just re-watched Friday 2009 and I'm in the mood for some more schlocky slasher flicks. Any more recent ones I may have missed?
>>68117540
it's Friday the 13th, not Friday 2009
Jesus, beta
this is what you're looking for OP
>>68117620
S-sorry, I just wanted to sound cool on /tv/.
>>68117540
am I the only one that thought this was a pretty good remake?
>>68117664
This looks badass. Will definitely check it out.
>>68117735
It's easily the best out of the various remakes I'd say. Survivalist Jason is pretty awesome and actually scary.
>>68117735
it was cool that sack head got a cameo
>>68117735
I like it a lot. Partially because it's barely a remake and it works as a solid installment n the franchise.
>>68117540
>>68117735
>>68117858
>>68117930
>own a super fancy house on the lake where Jason lives.
>He just randomly decides to kill a bunch of kids instead of all the workers it took to build the place and the parents who owned it.
Its ok if you don't think about it.
>>68117540
>we will never get another halloween, friday the 13th, or nightmare
>>68118039
Yeah. I'm not really clear on where exactly the abandoned camp was relative to the lake house. Jason followed Sam and the girl back there though, didn't he?
>>68118098
New Friday the 13th next year.
I really hope it turns out good but I doubt it.
>>68118098
I never saw the second Rob Zombie Halloween. Worth a watch?
>>68118229
All rob zombie movies are worth a watch.
>>68118229
I enjoyed his rendition of halloween. Its an ok flick.
>>68118229
I think the second one is really neat. It deals with how all the survivors are coping with what happened in the first movie and there's some pretty interesting surreal stuff in it.
>>68118229
Don't expect to love the 2nd one, but the first one was pretty solid.
>>68118229
the second one was brutal, i loved
the first one seemed unnecessary and is skipable
>>68118382
Cool. Zombie's take on Michael is pretty interesting. There's a lot more thought put into than we normally get in horror remakes.
How are the v/h/s films?
>>68118669
Hit and miss but I'm a sucker for anthology horror so I still mostly enjoyed them.
>>68118669
first is good, thats it.
>>68117540
>any slasher flick
>after 1989
why OP ?
The Collector
The Collection
>>68117540
intruder
youre next
maniac
man in the orange jacket
>>68118857
Well at least he didn't watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.
>>68118881
Underrated. They're shit movies but perfect for what OP is looking for.
>>68118881
FUCKING THIS
great slasher flicks
>>68118881
Good call. I thought The Collection was a pretty good improvement over the original. It basically rips off Aliens but that's not a bad thing.
>>68118857
I figure there has to be some direct to video gems here and there.
>>68118913
The Michael Bay one and The Beginning were okay, the 2013 was a sin.
>>68117735
I liked it a lot. This and the Texas Chainsaw remake were okay in my opinion. Friday the 13th '09 had some cool explanations as to how Jason got around so fast with the underground tunnels and I thought it was cool that he was smart enough to rig lights everywhere.
>>68118966
Which one had Daddario?
>>68118857
kill yourself
>>68118961
clown
>>68118961
I don't know, I just find it impossible to watch slasher flicks that don't have any grain on film, cheesy dialog, hair metal music, etc. Maybe it's just me.
>>68118229
Carpenter is my favorite director so I've never really wanted to watch it. Also, I heard that Zombie infuses trailer trash into it like he usually does in his movies.
>>68118995
hey Reddit, how you've been?
pic related is the best horror film in decades
>>68118881
Collector is way superior but the sequel also had its moments
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1EMzz0J-e4
>>68119048
If I love Carpenter but hate the original Halloween will I like the remake?
>>68119056
>>68118857
>he doesn't think any of the scream movies are good
utter pleb
>>68117540
Might as well watch the one with Dean in it next.
>>68119172
If you've seen and enjoyed Rob Zombie's other movies, you'll probably like it.
>>68118992
2013, her chesticles made it worth powering through.
>>68119172
Zombie's Halloween 2 is considered a minor modern horror masterpiece by some. I wouldn't go that far but it is raw and visceral and unique.
>>68119048
Yeah that's pretty accurate in the first one.
>>68119322
I have only seen House of 1000 Corpses and thought it was alright.
>>68119380
Okay, thanks
>>68119380
The second one is a big improvement. Michael's "origin story" in the first one really wasn't that compelling.
>>68119412
Watch the sequel "the devils rejects", it improves upon the original so much and is a genuinely amazing film. Proly zombies best in my opinion.
>>68119261
>likes the Scream flicks
>calls others plebs
>I'm in the mood for some more schlocky slasher flicks. Any more recent ones I may have missed?
The Hatchet series.
>>68119380
It was okay, the hospital chase was pretty good though.
>>68119532
Thanks, I've heard good things about those.
>>68119532
These are horror/comedy but still bloody and entertaining.
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
Cooties
Slither
Teeth
Scouts guide to the zombie apocalypse
The Revenant (2009)
May
American Mary
Excision
>>68119767
Scouts guide to the zombie apocalypse is the worst movie ive seen in my life and the only film ive ever walked out of a theatre for.
>>68119716
Damn, this post makes me feel ancient.
The Strangers is a pretty creepy one.
>>68119490
>>68119767
Just watched Scout's Guide not too long ago. It was pretty funny and the girls in it are both hot as fuck.
>>68119812
Good one. It's one of the few home invasion movies to genuinely creep me out and had me looking over my shoulder after seeing it.
The Happening.
>>68120009
What a strange movie that was. B-movie homage mixed with graphic R-rated violence.
>>68120133
It was Invasion of the Body Snatchers with unintended comedy from Marky Mark trying to play a science teacher, or what he thinks a science teacher acts like.
>>68120421
>Wahlberg offered his own opinion of The Happening in 2010, saying that Amy Adams, who was in consideration for the role of Alma Moore, had "dodged the bullet" by not starring in the film. He said, "It was a really bad movie... Fuck it. It is what it is. Fucking trees, man. The plants. Fuck it. You can’t blame me for not wanting to try to play a science teacher. At least I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook."
Kek. Wahlberg is such a dumb meathead that it's kind of endearing.
>>68118229
The only things I didn't care for in the remakes was making Loomis a complete sleeze bag, and the obvious one of Zombie casting his no talent wife in everything.
>>68120938
Yeah I don't get why they changed Loomis like that. Donald Pleasence was such a class act.
>>68119532
Came here to say this tbqvfh
>>68120497
>Fuck it. It is what it is. Fucking trees, man. The plants. Fuck it.
My sides.
>>68117540
have you ever seen Slither?
>>68117540
The Sleeper (very retro)
Sorority Row
Reeker
Boogeyman
Valentine
Forget Me Not
I've been a slasherfag for a while
>>68118971
>explanations
>horror film
Get the fuck out, your shit taste is poisoning this board.
Not exactly what you asked for, but remember to check out The Stepfather (1987) with Terry O'Quinn.
The guy is fucking fantastic.
You should watch maniac. It's straight out of r9k.
>>68117540
A lot of modern slasher flicks aren't over the top. Watch some from the golden age.
>>68123085
O'Quinn was shit-your-pants terrifying in that.
>>68123114
Wait when people say to watch Maniac do they mean the original, the remake or both?
>>68123778
both
Lake Mundo
>>68123114
Joe Spinell gave one of the best performances in horror history.
The realness he brought to the role contrasted with the schlocky low-budget production value really makes you uneasy. Like he's some real maniac they hired to be in their movie.
>>68119286
Didn't see the remake, but the original My Bloody Valentine is possibly the best slasher ever, if you're looking for a golden age slasher.
