This could have been such a brilliant movie.

Boring ass film that is a glib facimile of the original. 2nd Act is taken up by training scenes with no drama that no one cares about. Film has a decent budget but looks incredibly cheap. Every shot looks like Toronto.

Robocop 2014 was boring. It was a completely uninspired reboot that should have never been made. Most reboots are like that nowadays, like Total Recall, new Planet of the Apes, etc. Not terrible, but dull lackluster wastes of time.
Things like Dredd, or The Thing reboot, are pretty good though; movies where it is obvious that the producers and the people involved seemed to have cared even though just a little.

One of the most forgettable, bland movies I've ever seen. Really offered nothing over the original. The only thing it tried to do a little different was to explore the psychological aspect of being turned into a robot a little more than the original, but even that wasn't really that interesting beyond the scene of him and his lungs just hanging there.
Joel Kinnaman seems like an okay actor otherwise, but he was really uninteresting in this. Not sure how much of that is his fault. SLJ was terrible. Michael Keaton was pretty forgettable. Gary Oldman was fine.
For some reason they traded Lewis for a black dude. It's like they just thought they had to automatic diversify it for the modern era, but no one told them Lewis was already a woman.

I think I read that's the reason they kept his right hand, so that at no point it was a robot/drone shooting, but a human. Not sure if that was the case with Robocop, but it's known that other movies get extra money or props or facilitations from the military if they help paint them in good light. Drones/robots killing people is a bit of a touchy subject, and I guess Robocop filmmakers didn't want to, or were asked not to go there.
