This will do that, easy. It's already at like 682 million worldwide and the novelty of seeing an R rated Batman movie is definitely appealing.

Not to mention the comic fans want to see The Killing Joke material they filmed (what makes it rated R)

Remember when people thought it wouldn't pass 400m? kek

You don't think people will go and see the R-rated cut again? Not to mention this will appeal to the people who didn't see the original version.

This goes for 300 as well. Synder has a good style and so does well when given a story and told to stick to a script.

>may be coming to theaters
>MAY
let me know when you have some real news to report
>>
I doubt this is going to happen. It's not that simple to re-release a movie in theaters, you need to arrange screenings,
you need to advertise it, etc. It all takes a lot of money and effort. And for what? 90% of moviegoers are drooling idiots who don't give a shit about anything. At best the extended cut of BvS can get maybe $50 mil more and about half of that will go to theater owners. The only real reason why WB would do this is to try to get more favorable reactions from critics but that won't happen.
>>
>>68115625

lad. BvS will be lucky if it hits 850 million, but lets say it hits 900 million.

now think for a second. you are expecting it to make 100 million more in a RE release, something that only hardcores would see. a re release ONLY for the USA. a re release, when folks can just buy it when it comes out on Blu Ray or available online.

I don't think you realize how utterly impossible it is.

Plus anyone under the age of 18 can't be admitted without a parent or guardian, who isn't going to want to watch a LONGER version of the movie.

Double dipping like that is going to burn them. It's not like avatar that made a shitload of money, was in the theater for six months, and then got at least one or two re-releases over the next few years. That at least had the dignity to wait it out.

>they aren't the target here though
They fucking are though. Movies make a billion dollars by appealing to plebs, that's how it works.

Niche audiences don't break box office records, so yes, if a common complaint is "its too long" re-releasing a LONGER version of a movie that people didn't care for after watching the first time isn't going to rake in the same kind of dollars.

Also, anyone who isn't a rampant fanboy, or has even a little bit of self control will wait 3 months and get it out of the redbox for a dollar.

Not to mention a theatrical re-release means MORE marketing and distribution costs.

Yes it was set up to try to break box office records. The promotion and advertising and hype building for this was ment to make cape bucks. People, producers and exects were better on this to smash records. It wasn't set up to be an art house flick done "for the art." if you think that then you are seriously in denial.

First, that's Frank Miller's Dark Knight Batman, not mainstream Batman. Using it as an example of how "Batman kills in the comics" is like saying "Superman is from Soviet Russia in the comics, not America" and using Red Son to back up your argument. You may as well used Flashpoint Batman to argue that Batman kills people.

Second, that moment is a turning point for Batman, and it's a big deal that he broke his "no kill" rule there. This doesn't exist in BvS. We don't get that moment where he finally breaks his rule and it's a big deal. Instead, we just see him killing people like it's just another day as Batman.

That said, I think a Batman that kills people can work. It's worked in the past: Burton's Batman killed people, and it still worked (mostly because Burton wasn't overly serious or realistic with his Batman, so the consequences of him tossing a man off a building aren't really explored in the head's of a viewer because they aren't taking the film all that seriously).

Is it what they should have done with this Batman? In my opinion, not really. They tried really, really hard to capture the Marvel audience, but they failed at making a successful Marvel clone because they went too dark, too bleak, and too depressing. In my opinion, they should have either just straight out copied Marvel, or said "we're doing something different" and shot for a smaller audience that wants smarter, more serious superhero films.

Sorry mate. The next panel is that dude laying dead on the floor, his blood on the wall behind him.

>>68126348
Didn't the original Batman when Bill Finger was writing it kill people/use guns? I've heard that but never read it.

Not that that would excuse the way it's done in the movie, just adding to the possible source material for if it was done well.
>>
>>68126348
I don't see how Frank Miller's cynical, obsessed Bat is incongruous with his portrayal in BvS. You're right insofar is that the cinematic universe as presented thus far is very much like having Superman: Year One set in against the background of there having already been a Batman in operation for twenty years, a Batman who's become disillusioned by what he sees as the futility of his chosen mission and methods.
>>
>>68126480
He did. Reasonably sure it was the establishment of the Comics Code that reined all that in.

You're right. It's pretty hard to forget such a steaming pile of shit. I'll never forget the Room either.

Yes, he absolutely did, but a lot of comic book characters were written a lot different back then.

>>68126482
Frank Miller's Batman earns that kill because there's actual setup leading to it. You see him getting pushed to his limit and you can see it taking his toll on him before he finally just snaps and breaks his "no kill" rule, and him breaking his "no kill" rule is treated like a big deal when he does it (because it is). In BvS, we don't get to really see him get pushed to that breaking point by criminals, and when we first see him kill, it's not treated like a big deal.

Watchmen.jpg

If laid out on in bullet points, you’d have a list of ingredients comparable to those used in the Watchmen adaptation, a production where Snyder, depending on who you ask, managed to create something entertaining or suitably competent from the mixture. Tragically, his past experience with an ensemble superhero cast (Watchmen's 6 to DoJ's 3) is found lacking due to the fact that while Watchmen only had to tell its own tale, Dawn of Justice has to do the same while acting as a prologue for Justice League, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and others. To put the difficulties of such a duty in perspective, Bruce has a troubling dream as he waits for his computer to analyze some data, the post-apocalyptic ruin shown in the trailers where Superman and his army rules all. It would’ve been a perfectly fine way to build upon Bruce’s growing fear and resentment of his alien foe while briefly taking the film’s setting out of the cities and squeezing in an extra visceral one-take battle that would be otherwise impossible to incorporate conventionally. It is also not given much time to breathe as it is immediately followed by a second prophetic vision that is dissonant in both presentation and message in spite of its own claims to the contrary. That, as you can easily surmise, is the one that hints at the assembly of the Justice League.

The subplots that relate to, but are carried out by character who aren’t, Batman and Superman suffer from not being terribly interesting or well-executed. Lois Lane’s quest to bust a conspiracy behind an international incident is rendered moot by the deuteragonists finding out the answers themselves. Superman being put in front of a Senate hearing to argue for the sincerity of his altruism and to address the compelling implications of a Messiah-like figure in the 21st century is cut short without him getting to say a single word in his defense. Consequently, a large percentage of story beats feel either tacked on or half-baked
>>
>>68124173
this is what's bothering me though. i'd like to go watch it again, but i'd rather not if it's gonna get a different version released.

it needs to be official, otherwise they are preventing a ton of re-views with this announcement..

>Attempting to appeal to male viewers

What male human being still goes to cinema to watch movies? In case you people haven't noticed, it's primarily women and their friends who go by now. Men are dragged along.
The only other males you find in cinema are menchildren and outcasts. Not even memeing.

I'll personally go see the are rated version. You're insane if you don't think this will push it over 1 billion.

no, i don't.
i am actually surprised that WB fucked this so hard that the two greatest characters can't make easily a billion.
>>
I'll probably see it in theaters now. I was waiting for the R cut to hit blu ray lol just kidding I mean yify.
>>
>>68126860
That's error. This interpretation of what a movie not should do goes against the medium. Kino has no such refraints and impossibilities thus it must break away from all the known crippling clothes of conventional plots and memes to rise to the skies defeating all and every expectation attached leaving only the shaken earthly realities of formula behind. Actually slashed some fat fuck in the face with my nails on my film school once because he said that movies need to follow 101 structure and come into a clear suited package to offer a better digestible storytelling for the viewer. I was never allowed back.

All these low iq manchildren drooling over their superhero movies simply have the ensibility of a 3 year old stupid kid. They cannot see the movie. They can only see the memes. That's why The Avengers: Age of Quips does so much success.

Neither is BvS Batman, it's another interpretation. I loved it but maybe that's because I don't read the comics, in movie terms he worked really well.

I'd watch the R rated version. Not sure if I'd go see it at the theaters though

>Frank Miller's Dark Knight Batman, not mainstream Batman.

And this is Snyder's Batman, not the comic book Batman. It's different, just like Miller's Batman, Bob Kane's Batman or Adam West's Batman or Tim Burton's Batman. Just deal with it
>>
>>68129699
its not different though. Its a cheap knock-off of frank miller, passed through an adolescent boy's fanfiction filter.
>>
>>68129735

That wasn't my point, just that the "It wasn't the real Batman" argument is meaningless
>>
>>68129478
question DCucks:
Why everyone says that the figure in there is stephenwolf or wathever and not Trigon?
>>
Yeah no fuck that. BvS was bad and I regret paying WB money to see it. I'm not going to give them more to experience the same bad movie with an R-rating, and I doubt anyone else but Snyder apologists would either.
>>
>>68129787
>that wasn't my point

>>68129699
>not the comic book Batman. It's different

... sir, SIR! I do believe that was/is exactly your point.

Furthermore, the reason snyder went with his own vision of batman is because he couldn't pull off nolan's. And another TDK is what people wanted.

Knock Knock (the movie with Keanu Reeves) was actually released on the Philippines in two versions according to a friend of mine in the Philippines.
An R-18 version which is uncut and is released everywhere except SM Cinemas because they don't show R-18 movies.
And an R-16 version which is exclusive to SM Cinemas.
R-18 is actually the Philippines equivalent of an NC-17 and R-16 is their R, R-13 is a hard PG-13, PG (formerly PG-13 but renamed because some people were mislead that PG-13 doesn't allow kids below 13 even with parental guidance even though they do) is a compromise of PG-13 and PG and the G rating is obviously G.
SM Cinemas, which is the largest cinema chain in the Philippines doesn't allow R-18 movies as I mentioned before.
Which would doom an R-18 film to flopping unless it's toned down since some areas don't even have any cinema which isn't an SM Cinema.

And no, SM doesn't stand for Sadism Masochism. It stands for Shoemart, since it was literally a shoe store before evolving into a country-wide mall and cinema chain.

A different story is Fifty Shades of Grey where even in the cut version, it was still rated R-18 and therefore, banned from SM Cinemas.
It still managed to be a success because people watched it in other cinemas.

Anyways, a movie being released in two separate cuts is nothing new in the Philippines, says my friend who lives there.

Just go see it again. If we get the R-version, it won't be for a few months.

I went to go see BvS twice. First time I liked it. After the second time, I loved it. Everything clicked better the second time, because it wasn't grappling with my expectations. Even the shitty shoehorned JL cameos weren't as annoying.

Especially if you can see it in IMAX. Pic related.

I've wondered what the skin of metahumans with durability must feel like. It would have to have extremely little give otherwise being punched by Doomsday would turn them into jello and seeing Batman punch Supes in the face with his power armor and hearing the metallic ting supports that. I don't understand how Bruce didn't immediately figure out WW was weird. The moment Bruce grabbed WW's arm it would've felt like warm steel.
