I actually watched this twice, the first time by myself and the second time with a friend. It's a great movie.
A rewatch is actually pretty important for "getting" Irreversible.
It's good to rewatch after you realize thatit's happening in reverse.
You see Pierre's early hysteria in different ways when you first watch it vs after you know what happens, and it makes you alternately seehow the murder could be justified, vs the initial point of forcing us to see the brutality in its purest form without context
