Judging by the neverwinter nights MMO the new D&D is very different from the earlier Tolkien-esque Sword&Sorcery stuff.
Its a lot more magi-tech final-fantasy bullshit these days with lots of weird races and floating buildings and all the shit i generally hate in Fantasy-universes.
