Man, nothing more irritating than false parallels. The issue OP raises, and I agree, is one of narrative consistency. Jedi are an established and working concept in the setting. Their lightsabers are basically heatless (unless contact with the beam is made) plasma swords, and they have precog, telekinesis, and all manner of force fuckery to explain why they are really, really good at melee and can wade through groups of armed and armored soldiers.
This guy? As far as we know, he is a guy with a stick. That's it. It could easily be on the Ewok-killing-Stormies level of stupid. Sure, the force of the blow would perhaps make a trooper fall or stumble, as momentum and impact force are a thing, but he barely touches him. All I know is that the troopers better not die from that unless they have a damn good reason for it.

Like, recently I saw a movie set in 1920s London. There were several shots of a black man and a white woman walking as a couple in the street. It was there to sell us something. It was out of place and revisionist. It's tacky and it's condescending.
The objective is to shape public opinion with the assumption that everyone needs "educating" and are too dumb to pick up on the flagrant advertising of their agenda. In this case, it was a short throwaway scene and it still took me out of the movie. The message is basically, "You're too dumb to find the right opinions by yourself, so we're going to give you direction by placing propaganda in the media you consume."
SJW placement just seems dishonest and manipulative. Flagrant product placement annoys me whether it's a product I like or not. It takes me out of the ride that it should be, pauses everything to remind me what I'm supposed to think, and then expects me to jump back in with full enthusiasm.

I think the point of the Ewok scenes is that the elite Stortroopers were unfamiliar with the environment, therefore the Ewoks were able to utilize the forest to their advantage. It's a classic japanese war tactic that is often mentioned in Kurosawa films which Lucas loved.
But, yeah, it wasn't really explained in RotJ which is why it looks really stupid.

At one point they were supposed to be Wookies, at one point some weird lizard folk, but in the end the teddy bear design was cheaper and they figured would more toys to little children, so thats what ended up in the movie.
