>it's okay for sci fi movies set in distant galaxies to look exactly like your neighboorhood subway

The set design is non existent. This is lazy filmaking. They have millions upon millions of dollars that they could use to either built a set or just not have that scene a replace it without something else. You're not going to have star wars characters come to a city in some planet galaxies away and then show an image of the empire state building or the space needle. Same principle applies here. They made no effort in disguising it at all

Agreed, good set design and set dressing is rapidly becoming a lost art, especially when they go out and dress a pre-existing location.

Compare all the stuff in TFA shot on practical sets at Pinewood that looks fantastic (about ~30% of the film because they used an obnoxious amount of greenscreen when they weren't on location somewhere) to the on-location shooting. The location shots are so badly-arranged, poorly-dressed and shoddily-blocked it's laughable. Like the world's most expensive SyFy original movie.

WHY WOULD THEY CALL IT A CIRCUS IF THERE IS NO CIRCUS I WANT TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>68067592
>decent witherspoon

fucking wat?
>>
>>68067668
Circus is a Latin word for circle. Piccadilly circus is essentially a large circle
>>
It'd be interesting to see if they take elements from the design of the station platform and add them in other places in their sets to make everything overall more coherent, like that grating above the suicide doors, for example, or the designs of the tannoy speakers that they haven't altered at all...
>>
>>68063259
did anyone notice the ghost in the lower picture, it's just sitting there
>>
>>68067668
You'll still see plenty of elephants there, lad.
>>
Do people still have parties on the Circle line?

Or does that get you arrested now?
>>
>>68067733
>Lol meme

You will struggle to find a better place that serves steak at a decent price
>>
>>68067668
You want Elephant and Castle for that
>>
>>68067781
Yeah they still do on a Friday/ Saturday night. Depends on timing
>>
>>68067828
Nobody wants Elephant and Castle, mate.
>>
>>68067793

Wetherspoon steaks are great for the price and not too bad cut/source/prep-wise if their magazines are to be believed.

Most of their food comes in packets they microwave or heat in an oven though. So don't be tricked into thinking all their food is the same quality.

Is it just a spontaneous thing where you can turn up with a few cans, or does everyone already know each other?

You're an uneducated buffoon.
>>
>>68067844
Obviously not all thier pubs, the crossed keys pub in bishopsgate does some great steak
>>
>>68067870
Spontaneous. That's why timing is key, it helps if you've got a few drunks to instigate it but it's pretty fun once it gets going. It's usually the last trains and they aren't exclusive to circle lines there was a great one last week on the bakerloo

I can't wait for behind-the-scenes pics/footage so we can have a "Star Wars then" and "Star Wars now" image comparing Tunisia to the London Underground.

>Inquisitor Force-Jumping from each London Eye pod to the next

It'll be like poetry.
>>
>>68068243
It's realer then real-life.

on a serious note, Lucas has no sense of scale I think, that hallway is fucking giant with 90% empty space, 80% of the Jedi temple is empty space and long hallways that fit 20 people wide.

I like living in (or rather, near) London. We have a cool looking city.
>>
>>68068243
That's actually a model, though.

The issue is not the effects, but Lucas wanting to try untested, and frankly unfinished, digital camera equipment.
>>
>>68068690
There's too much scaffolding and construction. Lots of quarries and scrapyards really close to the city centre.

Will London ever be finished? Or are they just going to keep doing this forever?
>>
>>68068891
Like in the recent Total Recall film, they'll keep going until they complete the gravity elevator through the earth to Australia.

Scene from the trailer was filmed in the Canary Wharf underground station, with cgi added on to make it more star wars
