Then Jaime ask him if he really did kill Joffrey, and Tyrion, in fury, says he did.
Jaime isn't really shocked by their last moment together, but Tyrion despise him. When he reflects on Jaime and Cersei later on, he pretty much hate them both equally.

It's not necessary at all, you are right.
In the books since Jaime lost his hand he hasn't killed a single person, in fact he's actively tried to minimalise casualties and use his brain to solve situations rather than rushing in with a sword. It's a big point for his character and shows him finally maturing and learning his strengths aren't just fighting. I believe there's a bible passage somewhere about a man losing a hand and turning good or some shit too
