Part one was basically a remake of Point Break with cars.
Part two was a sequel only featuring the cop from the first one.
Part three was a completely unrelated movie about drag racing in Japan.
Part four was the first one to feature the whole cast of the original again. It was also probably the worst of the series, it was just really disjointed and unmemorable.
And then Fast Five comes along and everything changes. Five, six, and seven are all similar in tone and they're all about a bald badass superhero and his flying car and his tough totally-not-a-lesbian girlfriend and his big bald cop superhero frenemy and they go all over the world jumping out of airplanes and racing tanks on crowded freeways and dragging giant wrecking balls down the street and it's all so fucking badass oh my God
Also look at how much the revenue jumps at part five, everybody knows how fucking HYPE things get.
