As long as they're library keeps up I'm willing to pay.

Not absurd prices, plus as time moves forward I'm sure competitors will be stronger, ala hulu and even streaming online with a cable subscription. I use my parents + adblock, don't have to download televion shows anymore to watch them ad free.

Paying for stuff you consume puts a limit on consumption, because otherwise we as humans (generally) will consume until we burst.

I mean, it's still cheap in the grand scheme of things because I just mindlessly use it a lot, but I don't like the direction they are going. I use Netflix for old movies and some TV shows, I don't use it because I am interested in Netflix's content. I think like 90% of their original content is dogshit, especially the recent stuff. Love was annoying as fuck, Flaked was narcissistic bullshit, Master of None was literally one of the worst-acted shows I've ever seen, and Fuller House made me want to die.

I pay to watch proven entities (classic movies, new movies I want to see but didn't want to see in theaters, TV shows I know are good) and not to have access to ongoing crap created by Netflix that I have no idea whether it will be good or not.

Critically acclaimed movies is pretty good for me.
12 Angry Men, Shawshank, Of Mice and Men, loads of decent classic films.

I think there is barely enough but I truly agree with your assessment of Love and Flaked. I don't regret watching Fuller House but it does have a soul deadening quality to it.

Overall I don't really hardcore binge watch so its been all right for me.
January was me catching up on Oscar movies and suffering through Jessica Jones.

February was Fuller House, some Master of None and House of Cards.

April so far has been Daredevil and I am now 3 episodes into the Archer season 6.

Overall I think is just meh but something I'd like to just have around.

Netflix is more concerned with creating original content nowadays so they,re a lot more tightfisted when it comes to acquiring streaming rights. It doesn't help that there are a lot more streaming options than when Netflix started so Netflix can't barter like they used to. Hopefully the price hike will mean a slightly better selection.

When streaming services become so fragmented that you end up paying about 5 different subscription fees (I mean they are already beginning to) totalling roughly the same as what your cable/satellite TV subscription was, will people move back to using cable with on-demand options, which don't require additional subscriptions?

If you guys like camping me and my friends go to Big Bend most Thanksgivings. It's like and eight hour drive from Austin so you have to be cool with a mini road trip but it's worth it if you like the desert/mountains. It apparently is the most revisited National Park in the country so the people who like it love it and there's tons to do providing you have a car with some clearance, but even without it there's a lot to explore.

Thanksgiving is a pretty crowded time of year though so if you want more seclusion go out a little after that or in early January. The reason to go in winter is because one it's not hot as balls and two there's a hot springs that you can go to at night after hiking and it's comfy as fuck while you relax and stare at the stars. Check it out sometime if you haven't.

From my experience, these are the types of people who use Netflix.

>Capeshit fans for the Marvel shows
>People who watch Breaking Bad for the explosions and catchphrases
>SJWs for OITNB, Sense8 and other agenda pushing documentaries
>Lazy people who leave it on all day
>People who can't think for their selves
>People who forget they have a subscription because they got the free trial with their TV or computer
>People who watch the same movies over and over, not discovering anything new
>App sheep who hop on to any current trend and feel empty without the latest tech
>People trying to date other app sheep and trend hoppers
>People who do everything from their phones and tablets
>Parents who put kiddy shows on loop to shut their kid up
>General nu males because they all have the same interests

Do you really want to be part of these groups?

>MFW you complain about a service that is pound for pound better than cable. MFW you are paying a fraction of the price compared to cable. MFW they will continue to hike prices the more content they get until they are exactly like cable and cost just as much, the only difference is that you won't have to wait each week to watch something. MFW this is literally the future so complaining is retard level logic.

Good luck being left in the dust, netflix and services like it are the future. If you'd rather watch cable you are a dying breed.

Watch and you'll.

There are other options, like pirating but that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.

Netflix and similar streaming services are the future of home entertainment, ether adopt it or get left behind.

>I literally have no reading comprehension, I still have trouble stringing my ABC.

I understand anon, let me try to break down what I said so that someone of your density can absorb the information I laid out.

I am not talking about the illegal practice of pirating.

Pirating = streaming/downloading intellectual property that has not been paid for.

I am talking about the mainstream non-illegal act of watching intellectual property. The norm has always been to pay cable companies to get pre-programmed television shows. That trend is quickly changing, and pretty soon (within 20 years) it will be dead, or at least not the norm.

Streaming services like Netflix will become the normal practice.
>>
>>68026206

>implying that people would rather watch pre-programmed shows than choose what to watch.

You're literally paying a premium for a worse product.
>>
There are people in this thread that can not afford $10 service. It's really sad.
>>
>>68026471
>It will always give you more options.

That is absolutely not true. When you pirate you are pretty much hoping that what you want to watch its interesting enough for someone else to have pirated before you.
>>
>>68021746
It was inevitable

As a company they weren't turning much of a profit despite expanding like wildfire. They wanted to corner the market then increase pricing.

You're also forgetting that they have a grandfather clause for people who already have accounts, they won't be subject to price increase.

Considering how standard television is at least 3X as expensive or more, it's still a good deal

And if you can't afford an extra 2 dollars a month, you probably shouldn't be spending all your time watching shows

The grandfathered subscribers are actually going to get upgraded to a regular 9.99 subscription this time.

The grandfather clause was practically the only reason I didn't already cancel my subscription, because I didn't want to end up having to pay more if I changed my mind next month. But now I have no reason not to.
>>
>>68026601
You still run into the same problem of lack of content. Yeah pirating is great if i want to watch a shitty grainy version of BvS, but what if I want to watch a movie that isn't popular or cultist enough to warrant someone to pirate it in the first place?

Oh I don't give a shit about the price-hike itself. There's just nothing left that I really want to watch in my country's Netflix library. They've stopped me from using a proxy to get the content I'm actually willing to pay for, and now I lose absolutely nothing from dropping the subscription and getting a new one if they actually add some shit I want to see.

Pirating is never going to be the mainstream way to watch media. Accept it or not anon, its a fact. Not everyone will be as tech savvy as you or I and to think otherwise is pretty fucking stupid. The majority of my clients are my age (30) and younger.

I'm afraid this is a case of different strokes. I don't typically watch a single movie more than once unless I really like it. I am literally throwing money away by purchasing something I'll probably never watch more than once. I'd much rather have something different each time I log on. I assume your talking about movies because in my experience with Netflix in particular is that they don't remove series.
>>
>>68026420

This is what's wrong with the current generation, people don't cherish things they buy anymore.

How many Netflix things do people even remember fondly? It's just background noise for most people, which is kind of what this Netflix and chill perversion is. If you are a serious subscriber you're probably a massive cuck to the system.

You really are a cuck if you are getting excited for a digital platform to put up a movie you already know about, just buy the fuckin' thing.

Basic TV is also quicker to air mainstream movies, Netflix rarely ever put up a good new movie within 2 years of it's release, it's life after death for theatrical flops for the most part.
