The idiocy is in the fact that this shows portray Paris countryside as a wooded wilderness without any sort of economic activity. Paris is supposed to be the demographical center of the western world at this time, not some castle dropped on some island in the middle of fucking nowhere.
There are villages, there are roads, people go along these roads, ships sails all day on the fucking river. Medieval cities aren't autonomous like modern cities with their supermarkets. They are the centers of complex webs of homesteads and farmlands, all supplying it and allowing it to exist in the first place.
Also, why are there always so few men involved in the battles we are shown, why does every fight looks like a Mount&Blade battle?
