I don't see why people still blame directors or producers get shitted on when the film ends up being horrible because it doesn't live up to the hype or it wasn't what they expected it to be.

I think the marketing team has a really, and I mean a REALLY fucking crucial part in the blockbuster film business, particularly comic books.

But what's happening is, they literally shove to our throats trailers that show a lot because they're too afraid or something?

This was the case for films like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and more recently Batman v Superman. They showed a lot of things like in TASM 2, they showed the whole fucking Rhino scene, the whole Electro origin, ALL the action sequences in the film (no kidding seriously) and the only thing they had the audacity to hide was the Gwen Stacy death and THAT WAS THE ONLY THING YOU WERE OBVIOUSLY SUPPOSED TO HIDE

What I'm saying is, people get expectations immediately from these trailers. So if you show Rhino in the trailer and he's in every promotional material of the film, you'd think he has a bigger part of the film, so then we're fucked that he just had like 5 minutes of screen time. Moreover, films like Batman v Superman showed a whole summary of the film but hiding things such as Martha's kidnapping and Superman's death, again it's pretty obvious you'd hide those. Then we get a scene of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman fighting Doomsday IN THE TRAILER, so basically the audience is of course rational enough to deduce that 1. Batman and Superman stop fighting and it will be resolved, 2. Wonder Woman will be fighting with them so it will be less of a major reveal in the film. 3. fucking Doomsday man.

They shouldn't have over exposed the movie for so long before it's release

They should've only kicked it into marketing high gear when trailer 3 came out and dropped trailer 2

They didn't hide the Gwen Stacy death. That shit got predicted months in advance. Her outfit is literally the same as the one in the comic where she dies.

well yeah, this also goes to tell you the the marketing team shouldn't be stupid enough to even show the slightest bit of things that can obviously be deduced by fans who analyze the trailer literally frame by frame and can predict several things even with little resource.

Great example is TFA, even though a shit ton of youtubers analyzed the trailer frame by frame, they still couldn't really predict things like who was in that jacket who rey was crying for and all that shit

They sold Batman v Superman like a big dumb brawl movie.
Instead the title itself alludes to the legal title of a lawsuit: Plaintiff v Defendant

That and they filmed her fucking funeral scenes early and it leaked so we knew before filming was even done that she was going to die.

It's funny that the title can be taken as more complex than what Snyder actually intended

>uh... uh... it's V because it's not actually versus, because uh... they team up

Also, "v." in lawsuit means versus

Also, they could've just named the film Dawn of Justice without really emphasizing on the Batman vs. Superman fight in the trailers or the marketting.

Then we fucking get hyped as shit when its actually a twist and they DO fight so its a great surprise and it isn't underwhelming.

It's cause the audience no longer feels the emphasis that it secluded to them when the title or the emphasis of the film is Batman v Superman especially when the fight is just a mere 7 minutes long fight. Should've just been called Dawn of Justice and people would flock to theaters either way

Don't forget that marketing is supposed to appeal to way more larger amount of people, who couldn't care less about Gwen Stacy outfit or the jacket in TFA

That could work tho, like if BvS was just called Dawn of Justice, people wouldn't be bitching THAT MUCH about the things crammednin the film and it would probably have less shittier reviews coz our expectations are just going to be grounded on the fact that the film sets up the JL
