Also, Ren's shots are off kilter because it imparts a feeling of unease. Same reason he's often shot from a low angle. This is how you elicit feeling from cinematography, rather than just 'muh pretty shots!'

Well Monsters was very different, but looking at Godzilla I think there's some great stuff going on. Like this one, there's the monster almost sillhouetted in the distance, the camera pans down onto the boat where we see the bomb being primed, visually connecting the two very strongly.

But it doesn't feel like Star Wars at all.
Count the seconds for each time the camera cuts. The most is 1.5-2.5 secs and I'm being too nice. Then goes to longer cuts right after a rapid dash of fast ones, that makes the whole flow jarring. And that's not even about the camera work either and it's off tilt as fuck, compared.
I haven't done it yet, though I'm sure as fuck watching RotJ and then TFA feels like going off the fucking cliff and not the same territory.
