Dangerously cheesy, but good. I prefer Grimdark Craig, but the Brosnan Bonds are worth watching just for him.

Living Daylights was fantastic. License to Kill sucked, it didn't feel like a Bond movie at all.
>>
>>67968862

I'd still say the Moore era was worse. Not to discredit some of the better ones he did, but a few of them like View to a Kill flat out sucked. Die Another Day sucked, but it was actually entertaining.
>>
I liked Roogee Moore because by the end of each film he usually had fucked over half the female cast.
>>
Brosnan was best Bond.

You could say the scripts were bad, but how many Bond movies aren't bad? 1/5? 1/10?

Brosnan will always have Goldeneye.

He didn't look like Bond but that doesn't make him the worst. Brosnan at least resembled what Fleming had in mind.

I thought Craig was the best after the intro to Casino Royale (and it's fantastic ending) yet everything inbetween was a pastiche. Campbell was nodding off at that point.

Campbell also directed Goldeneye, which looks even better, and the movie even has an early 90's political gloss, but Bean's Trevelyan is too much like Bond.

Brosnan is fairly great for someone who started in TV. This Jackie Chan project he's doing could be interesting.
>>
>>67973308
Yeah, people forget just how bad the Moore movies were.

but Golden Gun is pretty funny tbqh

It would be interesting if they made a Bond film like Goldeneye, but instead of depicting Russia's uneasy transition into the modern world, they attempted to depict Britain's role within the EU in the same light.

They could play upon issues related to Cameron's time in office. The problem with these movies is that they no longer feel any sort of British influence.
>>
>>67974472
Have a Bond film where he uncovers Islamic terrorist plots within the EU, while ironically showing ex communist countries as the stable ones.

They could start just about anywhere, but I think instead of trying to characterise Britain through Bond and his material obsessions, they need a broader landscape.
>>
>>67974568
Exactly. Excellent idea. I haven't seen the most recent movie, but notion that Islamists have forgotten about Russia's role in Afghanistan and have transitioned into France and Britain is a very amusing plot. Not altogether believable though of course.

Yeah, I'll agree with this aside from Goldeneye.

Connery was the best Bond if you want to hold it up to Ian Flemming's work, but Brosnan was the most fun to watch and had a great take on the character. Sure the movies he did after Goldeneye were fucking stupid overall but it's still kind of hard to hate them...it's like watching a live-action Saturday morning cartoon. They're aloof, dumb fun.
>>
>>67973933
The only Bond that's arguably better than Dalton is Connery. Also both TLD and LTK are top-tier 007 films
>>
>>67973819
The Matador

It's pretty enjoyable.
>>
>>67974789
Thanks. Need to re-watch.
>>
>>67968833
Brosnan seems too much like a foppish pretty-boy, he doesn't have the he-man masculinity of Connery or the physicality and serious acting chops of Dalton.

When it comes right down to it, he doesn't even play James Bond, he's just Remington Steele on the big screen

I don't know, I think the Dalton plots are more grounded, but Dalton is still playing the character as an elevated figure... Brosnan appears far more loose and interpersonal, while Craig just looks like an old boy ready to bail class.

shut the fuck up pleb, Licence to Kill is fun as hell and has the best Bond girl
>>
>>67975425
Dalton actually read the books and took the role seriously, even doing many of his own stunts. Brosnan mostly just used the same acting style he was known for on television, except for TWINE which is definitely his best performance as Bond. His delivery of the line "She's waiting for you!" gives me chills

What are some underrated Bond movies?
>>
>>67968862
>>67968833

This.

Goldeneye was amazing but the rest went too far down the wacky road.
>>
>>67968862
I would say Roger Moore. I love how he portrayed Bond, but the movies themselves were fucking garbage.
>>
>>67977386
I personally only disliked Die Another Die. The other 2 I saw with my dad and we enjoyed them. GoldenEye is clearly the best one though.
>>
>>67977130
>>67976905
I think saying "Craig isn't Bond" is just a hyperbolic way of expressing that he's a terrible Bond, which is true
>>
>>67977424
I'd agree, not many people admit his films were pretty whack. He portrayed Bond well, although I'd still put Connery slightly above him.
>>
>>67976905
He is the worst bond. I don't think it will ever be possible for a worst actor to be cast.
>>
>>67977456

Die Another Day blew my mind, it was like they took the main plot of 4 different movies and shoved it all into one and were really proud of themselves for doing it.
>>
>>67977456
I don't see how anyone could like Tomorrow Never Dies, it's fucking garbage

I do think that The World is Not Enough is criminally underrated though

Fuck yes, I loved the villain, even if he was a little wacky.
>>
>>67977557
He's a good actor, just horribly miscast as James Bond.

The only reason he got the role is because Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli were trying their damndest to make Casino Royale as different from the Brosnan-era as possible. Neither of them really understand the 007 films unfortunately, and the franchise has been garbage ever since they took over
>>
>>67977755
I really liked how they actually made the two villains sympathetic instead of exaggeratedly evil, gave the film nuance. Also the boat chase scene at the beginning is phenomenal

Agreed, though, Moore is my favorite. It probably has something to do with having watched all the movies from a very young age and liking the camp.

The swordfight in Die Another Day is one of my favorite action scenes in any movie ever. You can feel the impact of the swings, and they just give up on the "sport" and start breaking fucking everything.
