it's at 700 million now. i hope it doesn't get a billion cause it sucked.
>>
>>67945603
It needs $800 million just to break even.

Nope

Now imagine Wonder Woman in 2017

700m is still huge, considering that was only the second movie of the DCU, how much made the second movie of the MCU? kek

>>
>>67945723
remember when batman came out, like every theater for over a month. who thought batman could ever fail.

>>67945760
700 mil means box office take, not what the studio gets

except the wonder woman movie will be decent because it's not directed by Zack "The Hack" Snyder
>>
>>67945703
>liking anything capeshit
>>
>>67945603
Maybe.

It still has 60 days left to prove its worth. If it only clears 750 by the end of this weekend globally then it will crap out at 800 m. I think it will come close to 1b. It really depends on the end of this weeks global take.

>>67945891
>implying this wasn't the best of the cape genre after the shit fest that is Marvel
>>
What mass appeal do these comic movies even have? I don't see how any normalfag could be interested in cringe shit like superheroes when even a dork like me finds it stupid
>>
>>67945760
Yeah but really, everyone is surprised the movie wasn't cancelled before release. Judging from the editing of the movie, it was a close call. Editing is usually where the movie suffers from budget. It's the last half of making the movie, they obviously rushed it. Good too see they pride themselves in making GREAT movies.
>>
>>67945603
1 billion for this movie will still be pathetic.
>>
>>67945972
What kind of dork are you? Lord of the Rings?

How.

no

it won't even get to $920

This movie needs to make 1.5 billion just to break even and there has been 120% drop off from last week

I'm over talking about this movie seriously. This board is so fucking dull now it's just exhausting at this point.

Some people just dont get triggered over small things like going to see a movie and then posting everyday about it because you are assblasted. They see the movie they enjoyed it or didnt and move on. Your autism doesnt allow you to

you dont even have to read the comics to get the source material, while marvel has been making Theater movies , DC has been making straight to DVD cartoon movies which are basically direct translations of the comics and are pretty good

comics are 90% cringe shit , even now since SJW got there hands on some respectable heros and ruined then by writing them even worse than they were already being written.
>>
>>67946054
>1 billion is pathetic because less than 10 movies in the history of film have grossed more than that

Box Office: around 280m
from that only 1/2 goes to the studio.

The income from foreign theaters is even lower.
Considering it had a budget of 250m + 200m(ad campaign) , it's gonna have a real tough time to break even.
>>
>>67945603
It was one of the better capeshit films iv seen.
>>
>>67945647
>>67945631
>>67945809
Wiki says the budget was €250 million and its box office take so far is $701 million.
>>
>>67946489
that's the actual budget for making the film, brav
they leave out the ad campaign budget, always
>>
>>67945603
it only made 1 dollar and it needs to make 250 billion to break even
>>
>>67945603
I put it at 750-850 pre-release. Looks like it is on point to do just that.

But fuck, everybody is going to buy this Blu-ray/DVD. I don't know enough about this shit to know if that makes the studio any money but it will sell like hot cakes.

In fact, considering the world-wide simultaneous release they should rush the DVD out by mid to late summer once it's out of dollar theaters.
>>
>>67946531
It looks like its generating a considerable profit regardless.
>>
>>67946531
Every movie ever made "breaks even" so the studio doesn't have to pay taxes on its profits
>>

Literally just got back from watching this film, it honestly doesn't deserve the level of shit it's been getting in any way, yes it has a few holes, but the only REAL problems were lex's lack of motivations beyond daddy issues, and its focus on world building for DCEU instead of the story and characters of the film, everything else are bits bobs and preferences, and really this film seems like the kind the majority of the population would enjoy, definatly kids and clueless adults. It's not bad entertainment atall

They don't get every dollar from the box office, so you gotta cut it down by 20-50% to get how much money they actually made

Yeah I think that would work well. You'd probably end up paying me to do it.

The Dark Knight made 1 billion back in 2008. And that's not even in the top 10 highest grossing movies.

Just replying to you for convenience. According to boxofficemojo 24 films have grossed $1 billion (not adjusted for inflation). BvS is no 81 on the top grossing list (again, no adjustment).

>>67946123
Underrated post
>>
>>67947928

WB execs probably expected a film with both Batman and Superman to do better than the Dark Knight films.
>>
>>67948037

I agree that ignoring international gross is a mistake but it doesn't seem to be doing that well there either.
>>
>>67948037
Those Batman v Superman toys are flying off the shelves. All the kids are loving the grim-dark.
>>
>>67946409
I used to work in a UK cinema, for the first 2-3 weeks the cinema only got about 20% of the ticket price, the rest goes to the distributor. As the weeks go on the cinema gets to keep a increasingly higher percentage.
>>
>>67945603
at best, it'll barely get there. and the studio execs will consider it a flop anyway since it only earned them a very minuscule amount despite the characters involved.
>>
>>67948191
The shittiest movies seem to always have the best toys. Like the Star Wars prequels had so many awesome toys when they came out
>>
>>67945856
It's not directed by anyone better than him and he is heavily involved in the production
It seems more depressing than MoS and BvS combined and it's written by the writer of Pan
>>
>>67945603
Make almost half of what it's made already despite everyone who wants to see it having already seen it? Difficult.
>>
BVS is going to get unseated by Melissa McCarthy's fat ass next weekend. And then Jungle Book will rape it even harder.
>>
>>67947055
Any superhero movie is a live action graphic novel (1 story)

TV shows are live action comic books (serialized stories, different arcs, and sometimes fillers)

It has nothing to do with tone.

This guy is the exact kind of neckbeard who thinks the general audience is below him for not reading the source material, even though movies are made for them and not a tiny demographic that reads comics

http://www.slashfilm.com/batman-v-superman-r-rated-edition/

From February. Warner may not be 'promoting' it as such but Snyder has talked about it in interviews. 'Open secret' type thing.

It would not surprise me at all if they put in theatres a couple of weeks from now but I'm not sure whether the box office receipts or home video sales are more important and which one they'd be more willing to cannibalise with the other.

I'm just some cunt on the internet speculating btw.
>>
>>67946531
Last I checked the marketing was payed with ads.

Revenue =/=profit

Most of this money don't go to Warner,it stays in the theaters.

Merchandise those ads that featured superman/lex/batman, merchandise using their faces and so on. That paid the marketing campaign and then some, those almost 800m are almost pure profit for them.
>>
>>67949500
Still in denial state?
>>
>>67949571

Little bit confused by what you meant by 'ads'. The whole product placement/brand tie in business interests me but there's usually very little concrete info on it. The Smurfs movie made back its production budget on product placement for example. Would be interesting to know details about this stuff more often.
>>
>>67946567

>everybody is going to buy this on DVD

Is this the new narrative for this shit flick?

It was awful to sit through it as is. Why is adding EVEN MORE bullshit going to make this movie better/more worth viewing?
>>
its gonna go close but its look more like 900m atm

the foreign BO is dropping like a rock and its doing numbers lower than F7 with far worse word of mouth. domestically it might hit as low as 330m which is just shit for a movie of this magnitude.

anything but a billion will be considered a failure. 900-950m they're in profit but not a great deal.

I just saw it today.
Unlike most of /tv/ I'm not devoted to hating on and shitting on practically everything, and I usually like things /tv/ hates. I've seen and enjoyed most capeshit.
But good god this sucked balls. One of the worst movies I've ever actually seen in theatres.
>>
>>67949821
There was a car ad featuring that scene where bruce was rushing to the city, there were soda cans with WW bats and supes faces, besides that airline ad with bruce and lex. All those things give a fuckhuge amount of money to them, that's besides the product placement in the actual movie, which if well done you won't even notice.
>>
>>67949919
Use "product placement" like normal people.
>>
>>67949891

sounds about right. they'd have to be expecting avengers numbers, and at minimum iron man 3 numbers. the marketing for this flick has been out of this world, constantly for months.
>>
>>67949919

that money is usually used to pay for parts of the movie desu senpai
>>
>>67949979
Product placement when they put a real life product inside the movie, those examples I listed weren't that.
>>
They blew their Worldwide load all at once so they could break records, but that shit was meaningless. They have no Chinese, or Asian market to fallback on and it's dead in the west already, no legs.

It's hard to believe this shit isn't going to break 1 billion, but it's not.
>>
>>67950031
Well the whole movie+marketing costed 300m~400m, a good part of it was paid by those ads.
>>
I like how they spent on marketing the film.

It deserves to flop.
