Is Jack Sparrow a good character?
>>67934074
he's a fun character. Anything else is irrelevant for this sort of kino
>>67934074
Define good.
He is an entertaining "meme" character, but that only works in flicks like Pirates. I don't know if I would call it "iconic".
>>67934074
He WAS.
>answer
but you have heard of him
>>67934443
You mean a character only works in the context of the world in which he was created? Wow, tell me more you cinema savant.
>>67934443

Jack Sparrow would definately not work in kino, he has no depth.
You have no idea how much I loved his entrance in the POTC 1. Coolest intro ever.

I named my cat Jack Sparrow because of it.
(Also because he looked like jack sparrow remarkably) nigga looked like johnny depp somehow.
>>67934074
Yeah, he's a great character who was slowly and gradually ruined by a series of unnecessary sequels

I definitely think there's more depth to his character than most people see. Remember in the third movie where he meets with Beckett and they're discussing Jack's past? Beckett mentioned that Jack on his way to a high position in the company, but he refused to deliver a certain cargo. When he says that, Jack drops his facade entirely and just kind of sadly says "People aren't cargo, mate." It's a pretty telling piece of dialogue in an otherwise run-of-the-mill scene.
I'll take the first Pirates of the Caribbean over any of this unoriginal capeshit any day
He's the same character at the beginning of the first film through the end of the last. There's no arc.
Fun as hell though.

I read that in his voice.
