my expectations for the show have pretty much collapsed given how strained, edited, sprawled and weird it is now. so much stuff is unnecessary and irresolute. also, John and Ygritte's romance was the only thing worth watching it for and now she's dead. it might still be capable of greatness but I'm not holding out any hopes. all the best parts of the show are very slowly being replaced with absolutely horrible trash. it's like Lost, people just love being able to talk about what happened with other people
and the whole "tits and dragons" thing, it's cool to look at but there really isn't any compelling drama
it's one of things where if you showed an episode to someone and they didn't know it was super popular, they would be like "this is stupid and boring," but the fact that they see people tweeting or facebooking about it makes the decision that "i like this!" for them
