The Matrix (1999) remains one of the milestone pictures in film history. The combination of the sequels and the Wacko-skis gender dysphoria have led a lot of people to negatively, and retroactively, re-evaluate their whole career, taking Matrix down with them, in the undertow of Speed Racer, V, Jupiter, and that awful Netflix tranny mind meld thing.
But I was there in 1999, and the people now taking a collective dump on their whole careers had their hair blown off that spring and couldn't stop jacking it to this movie's accomplishments and not just the technical ones either.
Especially the down-credit creatives in Hollywood. Every boom operator and ass prod and dolly man who didn't work on that picture were eating their hearts out for months.

While the matrix has plot holes and flaws that many other people can pick on, for me its got so much going for it its still my favourite trilogy. I prefer the second film (wish there were more scenes like the freeway chase) as an action film it pretty bretty.

It's just known that the studio made them tell more stories about Neo and that the original plans were about nobodies freeing red pills. No more details than that, but like I said I assume it's pretty similar to the AniMatrix in terms of what stories were to be told.
