Given their season finale history, I'm not sure what I was expecting. Negan was great in last night's episode, but that's it. They build up this episode to nothing. I do not give a shit who dies now. 6 months will make me give even less of a shit who dies.
In the comic, this is a major point in the story. At least they let you deal with the results. They did Negan's character an injustice. He no longer has that intimidation factor going on, the way he still does in the comic books.

It was pretty great. I've been watching this shit for years and I never got as excited and hype as I did during this ep because I was anticipating the ending. Then that long, tense choosing scene... perfect.

Not sure if it was Gimple or Kirkman, but on the Talking Dead, when asked who was at the end of Lucille, one of them mentions that it's a "beloved character that everyone loves" (or something along those lines). They're explaining the shock after the scene. I'd have to go back and watch it again to get it word-per-word in the right context, but what they said made it seem like it'd be Glenn, Daryl, maybe even Abraham and Michonne.
In Daryl's weakened condition, I don't see how he was able to still be kneeling up like that after those hits.
Imagine any other self-respecting show doing this. Imagine Game of Thrones cutting off just before the shit starts off at the Red Wedding, Mountain vs Viper, Purple Wedding... a cliffhanger for the cliffhanger basically. They had a chance to make TV history and blew it completely.
