>Exceptionally beautiful to behold and bolstered by a stellar vocal cast, this umpteenth film rendition of Rudyard Kipling's tales of young Mowgli's adventures amongst the creatures of the Indian jungle proves entirely engaging.
>Jon Favreau brings a welcome lightness of touch to this visually immersive adventure story.
>The Jungle Book” delivers a coming-of-age tale that never gets lost in the thickets of the technology that made it possible.
>Maintaining the buoyant heartbeat beneath all the digital flash, Favreau never loses sight of the fact that he’s making an adventure story for children — no small matter in a kid-pic landscape flooded with inappropriately gritty reboots and frenetic distraction device.
>Jon Favreau's beautiful CGI update of Disney's animated classic keeps the songs and the fun, and adds real emotional weight.

Well I admit, it'll be interesting to hear Bill Murray sing "Bare Necessities" and Christopher Walken sing "I Wanna Be Like You".

CGI looks like it'll be gorgeous but it's gonna go deep Uncanny Valley for some people.
>>
>>67836602
If Walken actually fucking sings in this movie I'll see it on opening night.

>Might lack the post-vaudeville razzamatazz of its predecessor, but director Jon Favreau and a team of effects wizards plunge us into one of the big screen's most engrossing artificial worlds since Avatar.

Fuck, this sounds pretty good.

Guys, you know Walken only exaggerates his speaking voice because he's having a laugh, right? He's perfectly capable of talking normally.

this movie speeds back on track like a car. this movie raced at the box office and came in first. the action is speedy and good and it never hits the brakes. all the actors rev up there performances. vin deisel is fast and furious. the plot fills up the gas tank and goes over the speed limit rip paul walker. i give this automoviele five fast stars

I was worried it would be too much like After Earth, because every shot of the kid he is either sitting down looking half asleep or running with a terrified expression on his face, just moving from celebrity voice setpiece to celebrity voice setpiece.

CGI is NEVER a good thing. Pretty much every movie that focuses its CGI is a fucking shitty movie. If they actually wanted to keep me as customer they would do a full movie with no CGI. Old movie making was better the new stuff fucking sucks.

I agree. Cinema was dead to me when cgi started to be in ever single blockbuster. I'm only 18 but my grandfather taught me everything I know about movies and the art of film. I never watch anything with CGI, not even Pixar.
I honestly Pitt the plebs who don't understand what's really happening.

fucking droooopppeddd

I fucking hate musicals, only faggots, transexuals and male feminists enjoy them. Why is the US literally the only country producing that faggotry? cant enjoy a film without somebody dancing and pompous music? are they lazy, illiterate, ADD parasitic blobs or what?
>>
god this probably means Serkis' Jungle Book is going to get shit on by comparison

This

Couldn't believe I was actually enjoying myself with that trailer since I don't give a shit about Jungle Book or kids movies.
>>
I have to confess, I didn't go to see Zootopia, and I rarely ever go to see movies meant for kids, but I loved the original Jungle Book and seeing the trailers for this gave me chills.

I really want to go see it with my wife's son.

Warner Brothers junglekino is gonna flop. Why do they keep trying to compete with the mouse?

>Only one person of color

Fucking pathetic. The beautiful thing about Disney's version is that it doesn't appropriate jungle culture by whitewashing roles. I hope the socially conscious film critics will see that this version of the film fails.
>>
>>67839445
Wait they're making two jungle book movies?
>>
>>67840841
At least. Jungle Book is pubic domain. I'm pretty sure The Asylum has done one already and will probably do it again to fool old people at redbox.
>>
>>67840984
Asylum is a give-in, but I'm surprised two big studios are making their own version back to back
>>
>>67840841
When Jungle Book Origins was announced Disney hadn't announced plans for theirs and it was supposed to be directed by Inarritu, but after a couple years of delays it's being directed by Andy Serkis and is getting beat to the box office by a live action version of the most iconic take on The Jungle Book. Warner Bros is fucked.
>>
The trailer was amazing, mostly the music. I feel like since obviously the disney one is sticking with their animated story, the Serkis one will probably try to be more faithful to the actual story. Should be interesting.

>Junglebook
>Live action
>Literally over 90 percent of the cast is CGI
At what point can studios even claim their movie is live action when the majority of the scenes featured are computer generated?
>>
You know you really can't make a full-blown Jungle Book adaptation, since the Jungle Book is a bunch of short stories bundled together. Mowgli's adventures aren't even half of the book's content. There's so much stuff with seals and crocodiles and noble mongooses.
>>
>>67836130
If they're using the same motion capture stuff that the new Planet of the Apes movies are using then I can't see it being too bad.
I'm not interested in the movie however, despite the animated movie being one of my favourite childhood flicks.
