I think the over saturation and handling of them sucks. I used to be obsessed with 80s horror movies and my favorite were zombie movies because I loved the premise of slow undead creatures coming to eat you alive. They might be slow but no matter how much you run, fight or hide. There is nowhere to hide from them and you will be eaten alive eventually. Considering it was something new at the time (2004), people liked this concept and wanted to see where it would go as the characters started learning more and more about the island they crash landed on. One thing the show writers liked doing were flashbacks to give some background of each individual character, so that we could like them more. Then by season 4 it got pretty ridiculous when they started mentioning that the island was magic and that it has the ability to time travel. This is where most people got turned off from watching, but because I was such a fan boy in middle school, I couldn't resist watching more. Then it got insanely cheesy once they began dragging out the story line with flash-forward character arcs that somehow connect with the events that were happening at that point in the series along with some alternate reality nonsense and some prophecy bullshit. Unlike Walking Dead, however, this show ended on 6 seasons, where as this show took a nosedive and will continue going that way until it's reached the Earth's core.

Sorry, I should be more specific. LOST has great writing. I won't fight that. The nosedive is Walking Dead since it started with some promise, lost potential for a long while, tried to make a huge comeback, and then just now failed to point where I want to consider this Dexter 2.0.
It won't be rick, carl, or Darryl. If they get rid of Darryl, nobody will watch the show because he's a fan favorite, AMC wouldn't risk that. Rick is the main character of the show and the leader, killing him off so suddenly wouldn't be right. It won't be carl because he said "cut carl's other eye out if he yells" so that's just obvious.
This leaves us with maggie, glenn, michonne, abraham, sasha, eugene, rose, and that other guy i can't remember (randy? the guy that introduced them to alexandria)
I'm doubting it's maggie since they wouldn't risk killing a pregnant women because it might be too offensive.
IMO, I think it'll be Glenn or the randy. Glenn is important but not important enough to keep the show going, killing him off would make sense. However, Amc may play it safe and just kill the randy off. Though that would be stupid to think we have to wait 7 months to find that out.
It would have been neat if they threw in some subtle hints or something but they're not clever enough to do that. We could look at the camera angles, the order they were selected, etc. but it won't hold any consistency. What chaps my ass is the clumsy way we stumbled to this episode.
Rick Grimes has been the leader these past 6 seasons because he's right. He sways from brutal to soft to make the audience think he's wrong but inevitably when push comes, Rick shoves and we see that this new world needs that.
He outlasted the Governor by having a team that believed. He bested Terminus by building a killing force then wiped out their remnants by being too smart for a fairly smart trap.
Now? Suddenly in the last 3 or 4 eps he's arrogant and foolish. Repeatedly leaves his defenses with the entire A team, keeps talking about the world being his and looks broken when a guy with a stick shows up. He even knew he was walking into a trap.
It's fucking insulting and disgraces the character. He was never like this. They needed that final scene and forced it. And it isn't just Rick. Most characters were changed to make this finale hold together.
Plus the show doesn't have the balls to kill anyone meaningful anymore. The last one was what, Beth? Tyreese? Either way it was over a season ago and we get this fake out shit with Glenn TWICE, Daryl, and this finale.
I'm over it. I won't be back in the fall.
