Is it really that good?
Goodfellas is better but both are great

>Goodfellas
>better than The Godfather
>>67834440
yes, along with Part II
>>67835572
no
and casino is better than goodfellas anyway
>>67835572
Wrong
Yes, every scene is memorable and the acting is fantastic.
Arguably the best cast ever assembled.
>>67834440
Yes but Part II is better
>>67835572
Goodfellas isn't even better than Casino
>>67838967
>part 2 is better than part 3
>>67838644
>Casino
>better than goodfellas
Laughingsluts.jaypeg
>>67838644
Casino is alright, but more of a clipshow than an actual film. Goodfellas has better pacing, editing, and writting. If you're drunk with your buddies or looking for a laugh, Casino is great.
Not as good as everyone says, I feel, but it's really good
Don't fall for the Part II meme though

>Don't fall for the Part II meme though
You're an idiot
It's great. But it does suffer from hype backlash because it's so often referenced. Anyone can appreciate the acting in it though.
II>I>III
Original is best. Only great parts of two are the vito flashbacks because the modern story wasnt strong enough to stand on its own.
Also michael is a dick for sending that dude at the end to his certain death. To needlessly kill a fleeing bagelboy.
>>67839094
Kill yourself.
Haven't seen any of them yet, is Part 3 really that bad?
>>67838644
>casino
>every 3rd scene is joe pesci beating the shit out of someone with the shah of iran going "ya gettin fuckin cute?"
it was gabagoolcore
>>67839193
>I don't like this movie because the paranoid mob-boss is too trigger-happy
Can someone explain why? The only think I thought was impressive was the long takes with of huge crowdshots, with everyone mingling in a very nice harmony. Filters over the lens were used effectively too, but I didn't get much else out of it other than a decent plot with drawn-out pacing.
Also the godfather is himself is fucking silly nowadays. I don't know if he was supposed to come of as menacing before, but nowadays he looks and sounded like someone we weren't supposed to take seriously when he starts talking at length with the other bosses. That's where it's at its worst. The opening is fantastic though, and sets him up real well.
But I don't get why this is always in top 5 lists anywhere. Is it THAT good? do I need to watch 2 and 3 to see why its good?
Yeah.
I really love the PS2 game too.
I've always liked Goodfellas better. I felt Godfather glorified the mafia lifestyle too much (up until the 3rd which came out like a decade later which shouldn't even have been made). Goodfellas being based on a real story and being liked so much by the real Henry Hill has always added to my appreciation of it as well
Amazing performances all around on Goodfellas, both from extras and main characters. The weakest main character was Karen (Lorraine Bracco) I feel, but she was still good. She grew quite a bit as an actress too - She was great in Sopranos

This
I wish there was more movies about the 60s mafia
>>67839403
>Tfw
>>67839193
>Only great parts of two are the vito flashbacks
Not the "I was passed over" monologue? Or the ending scene flashback when Michael announces he's going to join the army and Sonny disapproves?
>>67839443
>I've always liked Goodfellas better. I felt Godfather glorified the mafia lifestyle too much
I feel that considered as a series, it gets across the shit consequences of organized crime rather well (such as Michael having to live with the guilt of whacking Fredo), but things do indeed go much worse in Goodfellas. Literally EVERYTHING goes wrong for everybody, they end up either dead or in the can
>>67839476
too bad most of the old wiseguy actors are too old or dead and the new guido generation and much to look at
>>67839585
Michael Imperioli is a fucking SOLID newfag greaseball, even if he's 40+
>>67839585
It just has to take place in the 60s really
Of couse De Niro wasn't in his 50s in the 60s
>>67839666
one of few people that can remain loyle to his capo
>>67839273
godfather 3 being bad is a meme. there is a powergap between the first two and 3, but it's still a solid addition to the series and better than the average movie.
>>67839752
Mario Puzo was not too thrilled about continuing the story away from the books but was convinced to do it (with a lot of $ no doubt)
The plot went the only place it could go, and Sofia Coppola was SHIT as Michael's daughter
I prefer this one but it is considered the GOAT by many for obvious reasons.
>>67839852
>Sofia Coppola
yes she was terrible. if duvall came back, she was recasted, and (probably) andy garcia was recasted as well the movie would be much better. also cut the helicopter scene.
but I like all the intrigue with the Vatican, Michael trying to redeem himself, and so on. Michael's son singing the Sicilian song is one of my favorite scenes of the series
>>67839940
It's beautiful and we'll scored, but the plot never really appealed to me. Ultimate debate, did anything after the opium den happen?
>>67834440
it's fun, I'd watch it almost any day. The 2nd one sucks because there's no tension, Roth sucks shit. 3rd one is okay
Why cretins like you don't simply watch it instead of asking inane stupid questions like this? Fucking drooling retards and the their enablers.
>>67839666
He reminds me so much of Al Pacino, it's a shame he's not in more movies.
>>67841009
There's a little bit of Joe Pesci in there too. Same mouth and eyes
>>67841055
Oh yeah I can kind of see it now
Fuck man he really is underrated
