I really don't mind this. There are episodes that end with everyone dead or episodes that flat out contradict earlier episodes. The American Dad team is open about how little they care about continuity or the world being consistent (see: that episode where Stan is afraid to own a dog, Francine brings up the two dogs they'd owned in earlier episodes and Stan says it must have been dream).
