I didn't love where it was going anyways. 3 was my least favorite desu. I just want a fun adventure movie with some pirates. It got way too serious with Elizabeth and Will. 4 was silly, but I had some fun watching it.

Yeah, that was my main problem other than Gore Verbinski's not directing. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember the aesthetic seeming a little off too.
And I guess "shitty" is too harsh. It was my least favorite, but I thought it was okay overall.
The pirate setting is comfy as fuck. The cinematography is actually pretty top notch and the vfx are amazing. Unless we're talking about the fourth one.

I like the first 3 a lot and rewatched them last week, I want more cheesy pirate shit with supernatural elements. I remember being disappointed with 4 so I don't know if I'll watch it again.
I hope the next one will be good but the two directors are literally who's, the writer is mostly shit and it's been delayed twice. Also, why would they not only bring back Legolas but also his son? Fuck off.
