We all know that he's among the best directors of all time, but how about his writing?
Some say his writing is terrible, others say it's fantastic. He produced some of the best lines in film history, but he also wrote some of the cheesiest stuff.
His action is perfect, but what about emotional impact?
Let's discuss one of the greats here. James Cameron.
How can one man be so based?

Based on what?
It's fantastic.

He makes movies for the lowest common denominator, it's no surprise /tv/ worships him.

Get out. OUT!

Jim just gets what a good movie experience is
he's the best at making a small personal story feel huge and epic, or vice versa
He makes the perfect popcorn movies, not high art but not schlock, and he has the eye to execute exciting and meaningful action sequences.
>>67812008
I say his writing is effective.
>>67813163
>/tv/ actually likes avatar now
His writing is fairly derivative, but it works for the types of movies he makes
>>67812008
He's a good world builder and manages to tell some good stories in his worlds, but I think the main thing he lacks is diversity in his storytelling. His movies need action to survive. Without it they fall apart. He couldn't make a good film without it, but he doesn't have interest too. He's a man at heart and knows what most men when want. This is the reason titanic was successful with the women. It's because he tried something new to grab them, with the romance angle. He realized the power of mixing the two when he came to make avatar. Love and action along with a plot is all you need for the devoted masses of men and women.

Based Jim's writing is perfect. It captures depth and is understood by everyone.
>>67812008
His writing is amazing. He does only original work and his structure is perfect. Go check out his Rambo 2 screenplay.

God bless.
Avatar 2 is going to be incredible.
Seeing BvS and TFA recently made me realise blockbusters have got. We need Jim to come back and raise the bar on cinema yet again.
He's very good at what he does, and what he does has almost become a lost art.

>actually liking this lazy "dances with wolves", cgi crapfest rip-off.
Wew.

>Jim just gets what a good movie experience
No. Jim understands what people who have no interest in movies whatsoever are willing to pay to see.
>>67816816
Your less original than you claim Avatar is, redditor.
>>67812008
Other than the 1st Terminator, his writing is usually just average.
I'd love for him to hurry up with Battle Angel because I wonder what changes he'll make to it.
>>67817237
I don't claim to be original. I only claim that this movie is not.
And I've never been to that place. You on the other hand, clearly have.
>>67812008
heres a typical Cameron Script taken right from his notebook.
>>67812008
Cameron couldn't write his way out of a gay public bathroom.
>>67818056
You sound like the kind of charming fellow who would know all about the in and outs of gay public bathrooms.
>>67818601
yes
>>67812008
He's a shit writer and average director who made 3 good flicks and the ONLY reason he's liked is because of
>muh reddit
and
>muh contrarians
when it boils down to it Jimmy really only has 3 movies - T1 T2 and Aliens.
when History looks back on him in 50 years he will not be seen as one of the great directors by any means.
