The higher ups in command seem to have the black color which looks less like metal while the silver/gold looks like plate eventhough it's the same damn armor. Dunno why the didn't ditch the black color.
I also think the whole "plastic armor" complaint has to do with the armor not being worn out, but that's because they haven't been at war with anybody for a long time.

The whole Orc skin color thing isn't very internally consistent. Orcs were originally green with the demon blood just making them bloodthirsty and easy to control. Then along came WC3 and made the corrupt orcs red and later still WoW introduced brown orcs who stayed on Draenor and weren't corrupted. To make matters worse in WC3 Grom Hellscream is clearly shown as green (with red eyes) in the cinematic where he kills Manoroth.
And now the movie shows brown Durotan and his wife which would make them uncorrupted yet their son Thrall who is shown as a baby is shown with green color.

Let me explain all that for you.
Brown Orcs = Untainted by (and unexposed to large amounts of) fel energy. Didn't drink blood of Manoroth.
Green Orcs = Exposed to fel energy, but not for long periods of time.
Red orcs = Exposed to fel energy for prolonged periods of time.
Thrall is green because his exposure to ambient fel magic was enough. Before Durotan and Draka (his parents) died, they were also greenskins.
But Blizz are shit with continuity, so don't expect much to add up when it comes to Warcraft Lore.
