People give it a free pass for "muh cult classic" reasons. Same shit with Mallrats and Clerks. In hindsight they're objectively bad, but pseudo intellectual sheep claim superiority of these abhorrent flicks.

This is one of the movies that made the mistake of being adapted into tv, because now it makes you wonder why bother watching the movie in the first place?

Granted, an important aspect of the movie is relevant for the series, but not by much.

it leads her to be skeptical of the William H Macy character

it is an out of place and poorly done scene though, and unfortunately because of it the show has based their whole approach around so-quirky non sequiturs

eh, think its just more character building for marge. She is very content with her life, knows what she wants etc. It's kind of great that throughout the movie shes portrayed as the sterotypical north-midwesterner - very casual, polite, warm. In this scene shes pushed a little bit, and doesn't buckle - maybe its supposed to remind you that she's a sweet person but still a police officer? I like the tension that builds, not too much is said in the scene but plenty is conveyed.

you were such a super lady!
>>
>>67776104
What's the series like? Is there really enough material for a whole TV Show?
>>
>>67776175
How is it our of place or poorly done?
Not arguing, just want your input

>pointless
nigs I'm sorry but that's IS the point. It's just a shitty day in this dudes life that's filled with colorful characters like Randal and Jay. The humor comes from the situations and the dialog.

Comedy can be easily dismissed by an individual as not funny, but almost everybody I watch that film with laughs at the jokes. Just because you don't laugh doesn't mean it's not considered funny.

The first season is a separate story about a guy that ends up meeting a hired killer by accident, while their stories are separate they end up merging at one point in the series.

It's a very well written and developed story. Pretty cool. It relates to the movie in a very subtle way and some elements of it are present there, but it's pretty good nontheless.
>>
>>67776104
>makes you wonder why bother watching the movie in the first place?

have you even seen the movie? they're completely different. for one the movie is about pathetic, self-defeating criminals and the show is about comic book villains

Point of the thread. Also, what's there on the movie? Nothing. It's empty. Might as well see paint dry or at least the first Mad Max movie.

Granted that one's also slow and dull as fuck but at least something happens.

Goat movie. It shines a light on the strangeness and absurdity of our relationship to film as a medium, by removing us from our grounded concrete world. By doing this it shows a St how fucked up the concept of watching movies really are and how fucking creepy the idea of people caring or empathizing with people in movies is. But I understand the movie is on another plane all its own compared to most film.

Movie is meant to illustrate that violence is biologically ingrained in humanity and that it probably is a necessary thing despite what PA afist might think. I would call a good example of post-911 cinema along with the dark Knight, signs, etc.

It's probably the most Lovecraft feeling movie ever made. Certain scenes like when she is on the street dieing and the camera pans out and you realize it was just a movie of her dieing. And all the scenes of the rabbits watching you the viewer make you uneasy and then you realize that you are like the rabbits watching movies and TV and porn. And I find it amazing a film could make you feel what it is like to be not the subject but the object in a film. We for a moment realize how horrifying the idea of an audience is. This is confirmed at the end of the movie when the girl who at the beginning is revealed to be watching the movie/actress. She then cries when she realizes this and the blond chick dissapears and she runs away from the TV and goes down stairs to her family. The movie is conculuted and I love it for that, but it tries to do too much. It tries to show both the uncanny of film viewers and also the strangeness of acting in itself. If it had maybe just done one if those things it would be more accessible and clear.

Fucking spot on, my exact thoughts after watching it the second time. I noticed this thing that happens to me every time I watch a Lynch movie, some really obvious things go over my head because I'm trying to find deeper meaning in them or I'm trying to put all the pieces together to understand the whole thing. I didn't even think about the rabbits representing the viewer, as stupid as that sounds. I was just like "what the fuck is this shit now". But you summed the whole thing up very well in your psot.
Also the scariest scene I've ever seen in a movie is that face
maaaaan
The whole movie is so long that you forget about that you're watching a movie and than that shit happens
