Star Wars Rebels
First season is lackluster, but necessary as it establishes the premise and all the characters.
Second season is better, but still not brilliant. The season 2 finale, however, was very good, and a big step up from everything prior.
Before getting in Rebels you should watch some of The Clone Wars, which was the animated Star Wars show preceding this one.
Clone Wars started out really bad, even worse than season one of Rebels, but it got better as it went on. By the end it had produced some great arcs.
The show also provides some much needed character building for Anakin, making him more likable and his decent into the dark side more understandable.
See pic for a loose guide for The Clone Wars. The first 2-3 seasons can't compare to the latter ones, so don't be put off too much if they don't impress you.

It's not like the idea of it will extend past Rebels. The Inquisitor program has to be removed from existence by the time Rebels catches up to ANH, which is why Filoni had three inquisitors die in the finale. Once they are done, their lightsabers won't be manufactured and no one will be able to loot them and carry on using them. Out of the 4 inquisitors we've seen in Rebels so far, only one of their lightsabers didn't get destroyed somehow, but it got left on Malachor.

I don't know, Clone Wars had a handful of episodes that were pretty good prior to that but for the most part you're right. Hopefully Rebels follows a similar trend but I can honestly say there's only been like 4-5 episodes at best including the most recent finale that I thought were actually pretty good. Anon you have some catching up to do. Maul doesn't die in TPM because of his anger, Sith training and Nightsister witch mother all saving him. Maul is also not a Sith once TPM ends, since to BE a Sith you have to be under the training of a Master (Sidious). Sidious moves on to Dooku, thus abandoning Maul once and for all. That downgrades Maul from Sith to average Dark Side user; these titles are not synonymous. Thus, the Rule of Two is not broken.

TCW was a character driven anthology of stories designed to expand the universe and characters, showing the shift in character and the Galaxy itself, from Episode 2 to 3, and it did it fantastically.

The only reason Genndy Wars "works" as a prequel to ROTS is because it literally goes right up to the start of the movie. TCW does better with characterization and making you retroactively feel even worse seeing Jedi cut down in Order 66.
TCW had plans to keep going until 8 or more seasons, with episodes planned for plots concurrent to and beyond ROTS and Order 66. Then George sold out and Disney cancelled TCW.

Everything about her is just characterization for Anakin. The Jedi are shown to have to change their ways as the war drags on, and giving a non-Master an apprentice to train is one of those things. Anyone in their right mind should have refused to return to the Order then and there.

The council never made Anakin a master in the show. They gave him an apprentice, that's different. And it went pretty fucking bad. She went from being a good, responsible, rule following jedi, to a reckless and dangerous soldier, similar to Anakin. The council didn't trust her or Anakin, further cementing the rift between them.

The Star Destroyer at the start of the movie is from the book "Lost Stars", known as the Inflictor.
The Super Star Destroyer is from "Aftermath".
Poe Dameron's origin is told in "Shattered Empire" and his upcoming solo comic, explaining how he manages to be such a good pilot without force sensitivity.
All of these things were released prior to the movie coming out, orchestrated by the Lucasfilm Story Group, run by Kathleen Kennedy, who Lucas sold the franchise too. The LSG's job, what they were hired and paid for, was to unify the Canon so that going forward, from 2014 onwards, everything is on an equal level of canon. No tiers.
Because of this, we had countless things from TFA explored long before the movie was even out. Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group, confirmed just this wednesday, that there would be crossover between Rogue One, and Star Wars: Rebels.
