How the fuck could anyone do that to themselves? Its honest to god autism. In his review of Unfriended, he went on a rant about how the suicide video on youtube should have had more views than it did. That's what he considers legitimate film critique. It must be ludicrously frustrating for genuine filmmakers to see him review their films.

He is too hung up on "cliches" and can't accept that all stories in existence have s similiar structure. Still, he watches shitton of movies and his tops are always reliable as a source of some great flicks.
His in-debth "reviews" though are dangerously close to the cinema sins teritory. So-bad-it's-good movies are fun because you can watch them with friends and laugh your assess off, but it's great because it's a thing of a moment and happens spontaniously.
Imagine watching a movie with your friends, stopping every two minutes and having a twenty minute discussion why this scene was shit. This is what his reviews are essentially like.
What is worsefor meis that it doesn't feel like he is looking for some kind of truth with his shittalking, he shittalks for shittalking sake. Which is what his audience wants so it's all good but it's not something that I personally would want to spend too much time over.
In any case he is hardworking (his core videos are something that he clearly put a lot of work into) so there is no reason to hate on him but I believe that every person should past this kind of entertainment at some point.

I read a few of those posts until he really went off the deep end, he was making some decent points about quality but the fact remains.

I've been watching his videos for years and he's entertained me a lot. I give him one dollar a month to just help him out. If a dollar can help him do it for a living so I can get videos quicker or of better quality that's fine.
I have no issue with his videos taking a while. It's just a dollar and they're pretty great videos. The content does seem to be a bit slower than it used to be even when he had his job. But I'm not really concerned about it. I can tell he really means what he says and cares about what he's doing.

Yeah exactly. I find him very entertaining. And i can't believe people are actually bitching about him not giving enough information about what he's up to. He does over 20 minute updates once every couple months just to keep us informed. It's obvious he doesn't want anything misunderstood. People are just selfish assholes.
It's because of my principles I want to give him a dollar. I find him to be one of the most entertaining and thoughtful film channels out there. He keeps in contact with his fans and releases videos that I'll watch more than once. Seems like it's worth one dollar.

He makes some genuinely fair criticisms of films but some do go into nitpicking territory. With the nitpicking though he has said that some of those things he nitpicks are more things he noticed then genuine criticisms of the film that effect his score.
However I often find his scoring really inconsistent and he seems to be particularly unfair in some reviews and really forgiving in others and sometimes it feels as if he looks at who directed the film over the film itself.

I'm waiting for this whole Patreon-supported youtube shit to collapse due to rages like this. These people try to dump their jobs to make this their full time gig but don't bump up their output.
There was one guy I contacted and offered to help because I noticed he routinely left out major info on some titles and I knew I could have plugged those holes. I work full time and he was 'making a go of this Patreon thing'. It would take an hour or two to put info together to send to him and all I'd get back was either 'Thanks' or 'Got any more?' I was expecting at least some kind of back-and-forth to find out what he was intending to write so I could spot the gaps. But nope. After about two months of this I just stopped talking to him. I asked myself why I was putting in several hours of my time to prop up someone who was deliberately unemployed and should have plenty of time to either look it up himself or at least have a conversation about it all. Either he lacked the time or the interest. So I walked.
Since then his viewership seems to have distilled into capeshit autists who tear up his Facebook group raging at one another about how superhero movies should be made. But yeah, the sooner people figure out Patreon-supported videos are generally a con, the better.
