That's exactly why they should start their cinematic universe with someone like that. If the movie flops, no big deal, pretend like it didn't happen and ignore it in future releases. If it's a success, great, you've gotten the casual viewers to care about a character they were previously unaware existed and will now root for in your big team up movies.

Honestly, there are more than a few scenes that are good on their own, but they don't come together at all.
Here's a fun game: Try to find some dialogue that lasts longer than a minute in this film and isn't just Jesse Eisenberg spazzing around.
The whole thing has the stink of a half cooked script and a butchered editing about it.
