Anyway I usually hate superhero flicks but I was pleasantly surprised at this movie. I hated Man of Steel but Snyder actually nailed it this time. I really think that it's multiple factors.
1) Crucial changes to iconic characters people love.
- A Lex that didn't work for most people. (I actually kind of liked him)
- A ruthless Batman who doesn't really have the "no kill" rule.
- A Superman that doesn't smile and wink whenever he saves someone and fails at preventing disasters. (which I personally found really interesting)
2) Too many dreamsequences. (I didn't mind them, but I can understand why people have problems with them) Especially the one of the future which seems more like an actual omen. Combined with the Flash cameo to make it extra confusing for people who don't know what's going on.
3) There is a lot of time devoted on Batman's motivation to go after Superman. Supermans motivation is just his mother getting kidnapped. (even though he made it clear he didn't like what Bats was doing, it didn't seem like it held the same weight as Bats motivation)
4) The Doomsday. A lot of people didn't understand Lex's motivation. What was he going to do with Doomsday once he had killed Superman? How was he going to control him?
The answer is simple. He made a mistake. He really thought he would be able to control Doomsday. People are confused about this.
5) Death of Superman. It didn't have the impact it could have had if people cared more for this version of Superman. People feel like they never had the chance to fall in love with this version. And additionally, people know he'll come back in the next movie. Personally, I'm torn on this one.

Lois = Humanity
Neophyte sees God destroying his people. Becomes ruthless. Goes after demons. Sends them back to hell. Becomes a demon (dream of the bat eating him). Goes after God. Almost kills God. Humanity saves God from the Demon. The Antichrist wakes the Devil. The good Samaritan comes to help the Neophyte. God sacrifices himself while killing the Devil.
It's all pretty interesting if you look at it that way. Too bad people are just hung up on details and things that don't really matter all that much.

In at least one previous continuity, Supes killed the entire Kryptonian trio from the original movies - Zod, Faora, and Non. Phantom Zone wan't an option and they made it perfectly clear they intended to kill everyone on the planet they were on. It became the basis for himestablishung his rule against killing.
