>*cough cough*
>"You still love my movies, right anon?"
YOU STOLE FIZZY LIFTING DRINKS
Everybody gotta go sometime

I'd gladly give him my lifeforce
literally who?
Who's the better director?
>>67680230
Carpenter, Cronenberg is a hack.
>>67680230
David
>>67680230
Cronenberg, Carpenter is a hack.
>>67680230
It's basically The Thing vs. The Fly.
Both are classics from the 80s, both are remakes of older b/w movies.
I love both, but The Thing... let's just say it covers more artistic bases. So I'll got with Carpenter.
>>67680230
Depends on how you look at it I suppose. I think Cronenberg has more interesting ideas for films and is generally more consistent with the quality of his films. He aged better, started making different types of films that still hold up as great when compared to his younger works. But Carpenter is a better director visually and has created some all time GOAT works, but he hasn't made a truly great film since the 80s. Basically Carpenter has higher highs and lower lows than Cronenberg.
>>67680230
Both are well past their prime, but Carpenter was more consistent even back in the old days.
you cant choose one above the other. They're both Cannon.
>>67680347
The Fly isn't even in his top 3 best films though.
>>67680230
I've room in my heart and love for both.
Cronenberg is probably the guy you want nowadays but he couldn't touch old prime Carpenter.
I'll be a mess when both these guys finally shuffle off this mortal coil.
his latest album was pretty nostalgic, I recommend everyone get it

Im so tempted to buy the VIP meet and greet pass on his tour.
It should be Crichton vs Cronenberg.
They went at each other with telekinesis movies in the 70's.
>>67680715
He also provided narration for a Gunship song.
>>67680473
What are his top 3? The Fly is my favorite followed by Dead Ringers and Eastern Promises.
>>67680230
Cronenberg has directed the actual classics like:
Naked Lunch, The Brood, Videodrome, Dead Ringers and The Fly just to scratch the surface.
John Carpenter had a great run of popcorn shit like:
The Thing, Escape From NY, BTILC and They Live. Halloween is his only classic.
>>67680889
The Thing is a classic and is superior to every Cronenberg film.
>>67680798
Scanners is basically "David Cronenberg's X-Men"
>>67680955
This is the stupidest thing I've heard all day
>>67680230
Why won't these guys direct more movies? 2 of my problematic favs
>>67680015
Yes, I do, I think they're the best.
>>67680889
>John Carpenter had a great run of popcorn shit
I am angered.
>>67680889
>popcorn shit like:
>The Thing, Escape From NY, BTILC and They Live. Halloween
Oh you're asking for it.
>>67681536
Cronenburg is a hoity toity auteur now who is too big for his boots, and Carpenter hates Hollywood so much he just wants to smoke weed and play videogames
>carpenter got to bang prime barbeau
based
>>67681832
>>67681746
Not him but those movies are popcorny as fuck
>>67681832
not that guy but they arent really deep, just entertainment flicks, they are well made though
>>67681910
The Thing is popcorny?
Nah man general audiences would probably be angered that the film doesn't spell everything out to them or hit every single plot point of the stereotypical alien invasion plot.
Hell it didn't even do that well at the box office because plebs gonna pleb.
Also America were still riding high on the Spielberg's kid friendly saccharine alien film that definitely is a popcorn flick.
>>67681910
>>67682043
>They Live, Escape from New York and The Thing
>not deep
Don't test me.
>>67680015
Fuck yes I do.
Carpenter movies are so much fun.
>>67680266
Lol, you can always tell someone is triggered when they do this.
Prince of Darkness is underrated as fuck.
>>67680230
Carpenter, but if you dont like both youère a cunt desu.
>>67680230
Cronenberg has more misses, but his hits are better than Carpenter's
